L.L.Bean Celebrates Grand Opening of its First Urban Store at One Seaport

New England neighbor brings the joy of the outdoors to Boston April 6

Freeport, ME, March 22, 2018 – New England outdoor retailer L.L.Bean, best known for its L.L.Bean Boots and world class customer service, announced the grand opening of its very first urban retail store at One Seaport in Boston on April 6 at 9 a.m. The 8,600-square-foot store will feature an assortment of active and casual apparel, outerwear and footwear, as well as a variety of outdoor gear curated specifically for residents and visitors of Boston.

The grand opening celebration will begin on Friday, April 6 and go through Sunday, April 8. Everyone is invited to the three-day event featuring giveaways, games, a weekend block party, L.L.Bean’s famous Bootmobile and more.

Join L.L.Bean for a weekend of grand opening events:

Friday, April 6:

  • Doors open at 9 a.m and the first 100 customers in line will receive a free L.L.Bean Gift Card worth up to $500
  • Celebrate Red Sox opening weekend – meet Red Sox legends Jim Rice, Luis Tiant, and Dennis Eckersly, dance with Wally the Green Monster, and take a photo with the World Championship Trophies, 4-7 p.m.

Saturday, April 7 and Sunday, April 8:

  • Free outdoor yoga with Equinox at 9, 10, and 11 a.m.
  • Block Party with games and giveaways 12-6 p.m.; live music and free food 12-2 p.m.
  • Bring your four-legged friend for a group dog walk with L.L.Bean’s Millie of Maine at 3 p.m.
  • Enter to win prizes, including a trip to Maine for two, and one of ten pairs of Red Sox tickets

As part of its overall national retail growth plan, L.L.Bean made the decision to expand its presence into Boston’s Seaport because of the high degree of awareness and affinity Boston residents have for L.L.Bean, in addition to the opportunities this dynamic, emerging neighborhood presents. Another facet of its connection to Boston is L.L.Bean’s strong relationship with the Boston Red Sox, as a sponsor of the infield rain delay tarp since 2010. The new Seaport store will allow the people of Boston and beyond to experience first-hand everything the legendary outdoor retailer offers: quality merchandise, exemplary customer service, excellent outdoor programming, a welcoming shopping environment and an ethos to always do what’s right by its customers, employees, the environment and the community.

“Boston is a city that’s as passionate about the outdoors as we are,” said Greg Elder, Vice President of Stores at L.L.Bean. “We’re excited to bring the outdoor spirit to the heart of Boston at our first city store, and get to know the vibrant Seaport community.”

This will be L.L.Bean’s first store urban store, its 5th retail store in Massachusetts, and its 36th retail store outside of Maine. L.L.Bean currently operates retail stores in Burlington, Dedham, Mansfield, and Mashpee, as well as a kiosk in the Prudential Center. The new store will employ approximately 25 people.
