Maine summers are made for being outside together. So we’re bringing back our annual summer-long celebration for another year of family fun, with acclaimed music acts, open-air movies, food trucks, festivals and much, much more. Because if it’s outside, we’re all in.

Ongoing Events

Yoga in the Park

Starting July 5; Monday through Friday, 8-9 a.m.

Start your day with fresh air and free yoga in Discovery Park (weather permitting). Bring a mat and blocks if you have them. If you don’t, we’ll have extras. Instruction by Freeport Yoga Company. All levels welcome.

Food, Fun & Films

Starting July 5, Every Friday, Food Trucks Arrive at 6 p.m.

Get your outdoor film fix every week, with free family-friendly movies, plus lawn games and local food trucks – all gathered together under the stars in Discovery Park.

Summer in Our Backyard

July 4–August 31

Explore our campus for tons of fun games, surprises and special activities all season long, including:

Maine Maker Nights, Wednesdays at 6 p.m.

Learn new skills from local artisans.

Kids’ Tent Tales, Thursdays at 6 p.m.

Stories, crafts and gooey s’mores.

Road Race and Fun Run

July 4, 7:25 a.m. and 9:10 a.m. start times

Our hometown race has been an Independence Day staple for over 40 years! Choose from our 10K road race or one-mile family fun run/walk. Proceeds support Casco Bay YMCA Youth Programs.


Fourth of July Celebration


Start the Fourth with a bang! Our classic American parade on Freeport’s Main Street starts at 10 a.m., then come back at 7:30 p.m. for a free outdoor concert featuring The War And Treaty (details below), followed by fireworks at approximately 9 p.m.

The War And Treaty

July 4, 7:30 p.m. – FREE CONCERT

As the War And Treaty, Michael and Tanya Trotter heal and steal pain with freewheeling joy on their new full-length album, Healing Tide. Funky bass lines, keys, lap steel, acoustic strings and stripped-down percussion create a swampy Southern soul bed for the couple’s transcendent vocals and confident swagger that’s only gained by artists who are wholly, proudly themselves.

Gone West featuring Colbie Caillat

July 13, 7:30 p.m. – FREE CONCERT

Gone West is a new Nashville-based band that Billboard has lauded as “an intoxicating mix of four-part harmonies on display.” This star-studded quartet features the combined talents of two-time Grammy Award Winner Colbie Caillat, multi-platinum singer/songwriter Jason Reeves, four-time Hawaii Music Award Winner Justin Kawika Young and ACM- and CMT-nominated artist Nelly Joy.


July 27, 7:30 p.m. – FREE CONCERT

Since their 2013 debut Living Room, this New York trio of brothers – Adam, Jack and Ryan (hence, AJR) – has brought insightful lyrical confessions, alternative ambitions, earnest charm, D.I.Y. songcraft and magnetic pop choruses to audiences worldwide, earning an impressive list of accolades along the way, including a pair of platinum-selling breakout singles in “I’m Ready” and “Weak.” Their last album, The Click, racked up over a billion streams and had two #1 songs at Alternative Radio.

Mat Kearney

August 3, 7:30 p.m. – FREE CONCERT

Years before he toured the world as a platinum-selling artist, Mat Kearney grew up in Eugene, Oregon, where he developed his love for classic songwriting. Now on his fifth album, Mat has stayed true to his roots as a melody-driven songwriter, while adding a growing set of genre-bending influences that has him creating music not just for the head and the heart, but also for the dance floor.

Camp Sunshine Watermelon Festival

August 10, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Celebrate in the summer heat with a refreshing lineup of watermelon carving, seed-spitting contests, lawn games, music and fun surprises. Benefits Camp Sunshine, a retreat for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

Anderson East

August 17, 7:30 p.m. – FREE CONCERT

With striking vocals and memorable songcraft rich with R&B grooves, gospel blues, surging keys and blasting brass, this Grammy-nominated Alabama troubadour has earned critical acclaim since first storming onto the scene with his debut album Delilah in 2015, which Paste hailed as “one of those 10-song records that’s damned near perfect, traveling through old, smoky bars of older days and down the twisted back roads of love.”

Dog Days of August, Featuring DockDogs®

August 24-25, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bring your best friend for this fun annual festival and join L.L.Bean in supporting shelter pets and programs. Make sure to catch the always-amazing show put on by DockDogs, with dogs competing in long jump, high jump and timed retrieval events.
