Rated 5 out of 5 by Oprahtoo GREAT!
Nice and large so it covers everything and nothing sticks out. Good quality too.

Happy with comforter. Wish there were other colors/patterns, ended up with cover over comforter with some pattern.

Lots of plusses--warm, fluffy and luxurious feeling. I love the 'crunchy' sound! I would certainly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Piwacket Warmth of Down, Plus Washable: GREAT Customer Svce
Scenario: Rehabbed house badly insulated; bitter cold weekend; screaming winds; three kids' bedrooms without heat.
Went online to remedy the bitter cold the kids were enduring -- at least until I could get the second floor insulated and heated -- and found these comforters. Unfortunately, online delivery was going to take two to three weeks.
It is still Winter in Maine, so I called customer service to inquire if there were any available on the retail store floor. The rep I talked with was sympathetic to my dilemma, and, as I waited, called the Home Store at the LL Bean complex in Freeport to see if they were on hand. Came back to me and said, "yes, we have them at the store; I've asked that they hold one for you to pick up." I needed THREE, which I explained to her. She called the store back, asked them to put three aside.
Drove the hour south to Freeport, connected with a sales person at the Home Store, who had all three comforters ready to hand over. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE!
If you think LL Bean's telephone representatives are good, you can enhance that perception by dealing with the staff in person. This is the quintessential good customer service model that should be embraced by every online store in the country.

My husband and I have looked forward to ordering the alternative down comforter for over a year and have been extremely pleased with it now that we have it. We look forward to climbing under the comforter every night.

I bought this for my daughter, and it is snugly, warm, & wonderful. I honestly can't tell that it is any different than the LLBean goose-down comforter on my bed.
I do understand why people have mentioned that it is a bit crinkly, and those reviews did cause me to really think about making this purchase, but I am so glad I did. I suppose there is a bit more rustle than a blanket, but I can't say I've ever used a filled comforter that sounded much different. My down comforter sounds exactly the same, and this crinkling is not something I ever would have thought about if not for these reviews, nor has it ever bothered me or kept me up at night!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Mrs16paws Excellent attention to detail
This is my first comforter. It is amazing. The corner ties make the comforter stay in place. It is very light, but warm. I was able to turn our nighttime thermostat down two degrees. Feels like luxury to me. There is a very slight sound as there would be with any fabric on fabric movement - not anything to worry about thought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by RenetteShopper Exactly what I needed
It's not bulky or heavy. It's light weight, yet warm. I ordered the king size and it's easy to wash in front load machine. Very pleased.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ohiomainer74 great warmth but...
Upon opening this comforter you are immediately overwhelmed with a strange chemical smell. I had it in my house for a day, and when a friend visited they asked "are you paining a room." It was that strong of an odor. The good thing is the smell will go away if you air it out for a week- which is what I did but it does smell when it first arrives. The item ships from a 3rd party vendor (not Bean) and I do think they should look into this.
