Rated 5 out of 5 by shirttail Have to taper them yourself!
Wonderful jeans in every way , except they don't come tapered unless you order a relaxed fit!!!
I like them well enough to have gone to the time and effort to taper them myself. Not an easy task. !!!!!! Now they are perfect.
Too bad they are not offered already tapered because as straight leg jeans they look like modified bell bottoms. The cut appears ok until you put them on and for some reason they want to sort of flare out.
Did two pairs and was difficult to do . If you have certain attachments for your machine it would help greatly. My machine is old and all it does is sew, so i had to be creative to accomplish this task. Good luck ladies. They would be perfect if offered tapered.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Maxthemutt Horrible; looks like I'm wearing my husbands jeans
Tried my normal pant size and they were too tight in the waist and too short (like capris), but the leg seemed to fit okay. Ordered a size up and a longer length, and the length was good, but they were sloppy looking. It felt like I was wearing my husbands jeans. Absolutely no shape or fit to them at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by shirttail Please--no bell bottoms!
The straight leg , original, all-cotton double L.Jeans are well made, comfortable, true to size----BUT----they look like the old bell bottoms!!!!! The relaxed and comfort waist both have tapered legs--WHY NOT THE SOO CALLED STRAIGHT LEG ONES THAT ARE SLIGHTLY FITTED THROUGH THE HIP AND THIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am keeping them because all is good except the bell bottom look. Will try tapering them myself and hopefully i won't ruin them. Either way they would only be good for housework/yard work.
They are not cut as bell bottoms, but the way they fit , they flare out on the bottom. If these jeans were tapered they would be perfect.
Those of us who are NOT part of the "shrink wrap" generation would love to be able to buy something that is cut with common sense and not have to do the remaking ourselves!
Getting impatient with the sizing at LL Bean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sally60 Amazing fit
I have a small waist in relation to hips, so have a very difficult time finding pants that fit. These were made for me! Fit nicely in waist and hips, just enough room in thighs and fall straight from mid-thigh to hem. Well made with soft but heavy weight denim. My only wish is that they were also available in black!!!! Please LL Bean, bring back the black!

Rated 4 out of 5 by PersonalStyle Length is right with flats
Big pockets and extra fabric on my back thigh make me feel ready for trips to the hardware store, not a fashion statement but comfy when needed so I own a couple pair.

Rated 2 out of 5 by KateD Very wide fit
I ordered these by the size chart which was 32" waist or size 14. The waist was perfect but the legs and seat are enormous. There is at least an extra 4" of material in each leg and rear. I'm petite and the rise is very high. They button at my lower ribs. They would probably work if you are pear shaped or have very athletic legs. They are beautifully made and would love to keep them but there's no way to make them work for my figure. For reference I wear Levi 501's 32x32 and they are great in thighs and rise. So sorry LL Bean I love your clothes but these just won't work.

In jeans, I prefer heavy-weight denim and the straight-legged style. I need legs that are long enough without looking sloppy. These are perfect and I now have 2 pair!

Rated 1 out of 5 by LovesSnow One wash = 2" less
I was so happy to find a pair of jeans that fit well. I immediately washed and dried them before I wore them the first time. I was so disappointed to notice how short they were after I put them on. I measured them and my 30" pants were now 28" in length. I returned them and was reluctant to buy another pair in fear that the same thing would happen again. :(

These jeans are the best fabric in the world--actual, real cotton denim. Those of us who live in the real world appreciate how hard it is to find (ever try to ride a horse or do real work in 21st century so-called denim??). But, hey, Bean -- not all of us have ample butts, and we'd love these jeans even more if they were less baggy in the rear. Couldn't you PLEASE make them in a size 2? We have had enough of trying to fit into men's jeans--with no waistline and no hips. Bean's double-L jeans DO allow us to tuck in a shirt, to wear a belt, to keep our navels and our fannies covered--but they also bag at the seat, as you would know if you had been reading our reviews the last several years. We want an attractive cut in a jean that is not stretchy, flimsy fabric, and we want it at Bean's still-decent price. Please, please make double-Ls small enough for grown-up girls who are in good shape and want to look good in what we used to call our Levis. Thanks!

Please, please bring back the slightly fitted, tapered leg ladies jeans. Nothing fits as well on me. I like these straight legs because they are slightly fitted and the only L L Bean jeans I can wear, but they look like mom jeans with the big legs. I watch every year for you to bring them back. Please!!!!
