I like them except for the waistband, it is serged with a heavy synthetic thread, and feels like a saw against my skin, even through a camisole. I used the size chart and waist is not too tight, just abrasive, especially in the course of a day's wear.

Ordered two pairs in dark wash. Were very long out of package, but shrank to size when washed. Sized a bit larger in waist than previous orders. Denim somewhat coarser and lighter than in previous orders, but still a very nice pair of jeans. Enjoy wearing them.

First of all, I agree with some other reviewers about these feeling good to wear because they are 100% cotton. It is hard to find all-cotton pants these days. Other than 2 pairs of pants that I bought from LL Bean specifically for winter, these are the only pants I've ordered and kept from LLB in quite awhile.
I bought the black ones; I like the leg width, not wide-legged and not tapered. I like the fact that I don't have to tug at them all day to keep them on my waist. I don't ever tuck things in so I would rather have pants that sit comfortably near the waist. I don't think I would wear the blue denim versions but I think it's because I don't like the colors of denim they are offered in. I would probably like a rinsed denim color, but more than anything, I wish these came in corduroy. I wish they came in rust, and camel, and plum, and gray, and green, and on and on.
I usually wear 6 or 8 in LL Bean pants and 6 fits fine. I usually do better with pants that are marked as "curvy." I don't have trim hips or thighs and these fit comfortably but are flattering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MsHT My favorite jeans
After trying various types of jeans, I made the genius move of calling LL Bean's customer service people and describing my problems with fit. They recommended these jeans, which are perfect for my body type. I love the cotton. I love how they show off my legs even when my hips and waist are more to be pitied than admired. But would I recommend them to a friend? I'd recommend my friend call LL Bean if she were having trouble finding the right fit. I have no talent in this department. Thank you, Bean!

L.L. Bean is one of the few companies left that still offers all cotton denim jeans to women even though fashion trends have almost eliminated all cotton denim jeans from the marketplace. I cannot wear jeans that are so thin and stretchy that they resemble tights. There are times when it really feels good to put on a nice comfortable pair of all cotton jeans that fit at the waist and have pockets!
I have always worn L.L. Bean denim jeans in a relaxed fit style and in the natural fit style. This time I decided to try the straight leg style and I was very pleased at how well they fit. The waist fits at my waist, not below. The straight leg style is very flattering and not baggy. It just feels good to wear such a comfortable pair of all cotton jeans. There is enough room in these jeans so that I can tuck in my shirt and wear a belt. The pockets are deep and roomy. The denim material is good quality and the jeans were finished nicely inside as well.
I liked the faded denim color so much that I purchased a second pair to have on hand. I hope that L.L. Bean will continue to sell all cotton denim jeans for women.

Rated 4 out of 5 by minneapolisshopping happy with 100% cotton
I was happy to find 100% cotton. I bought this in the medium length (second pair), tried them on when they came, fit fine. After washing, the length shrunk up to 28 inches. I've been wearing them short, but am ordering medium tall today. Hopefully these will stay long enough. The first pair I ordered did not shrink.

I have been a wearer of one version of a famous brand of men's jeans for close to 40 years. Their recent restyling and loss of quality has caused me to embark upon a search for another source of everyday jeans. (100% cotton, heavier denim; non-gimmicky, traditional styling; reasonable price.)
Despite being acutely aware that they could easily devolve into Mom Jeans, based upon the their description and mostly positive customer reviews, I figured I'd try Bean's Double L jeans
While the Double L jeans could look totally Mom-ish, the high waistband can be disguised by not tucking in one's shirts/sweaters. Unfortunately, the cut of the thighs can't be camouflaged. They are much too baggy, especially after a few hours' wearing - the straight leg jeans that Bean describes are, in actuality, tapered.
I also cannot understand why the jeans are not available in a tall inseam. I?m only 5?9?, but have a very short waist and long legs; the jeans while not technically high-waters, are certainly not breaking at the tops of my shoes. That doesn't help the look, either.
If I had my way, the Double L denim would be used to make jeans that are lower in the waist, have less room in the thighs thus creating a true straight leg, and are available in a longer inseam. Alas, that option isn't available, so my search continues

Rated 2 out of 5 by WorldwideRover All but the waist! :-(
I love these jeans. They fit well everywhere but the waist. Perhaps when I was younger these may have fit well everywhere, but as my age has increased so has my waist. I wear a size 12 in most slacks. Size 12 LL Bean fits well everywhere but the waist. Size 14 LL Bean is baggy everywhere, with the waist being a bit loose. I wish you could make a pair of jeans just like this for those of us with broader waists.
I like the fabric
I like the high waist
I like the design, except the narrow waist
The rise could be a 1/2 inch longer for me-I am long in the torso.
I like the durability

by WriterWithADayJob Finally - jeans that fit me
As waists grow wider with each generation (insert lecture about the evils of high fructose corn syrup here), jeans have adjusted and left people like me increasingly out of luck. Even when I was significantly overweight, my waist has always been smaller than my hips. No matter how tightly I cinch my belt, jeans droop and leave me with the unattractive "saggy crotch" look. These jeans fit like women's jeans used to fit! In fact, I don't even need a belt. Despite being casual clothing, these jeans are neat and tidy, with no sags or droops. They're well made, and I anticipate they'll last me for years. Even though two well-known competitors are headquartered within 50 miles of my home, these have become my new default brand and style. Now all I need is for you to come up with a "carpenter" version of these jeans with at least one pocket on the side of the leg for a phone -- then I'll be set for life!

Rated 2 out of 5 by sassiebell To small
I never have ordered Jeans from llbean before. I am 5'5'' and 124 slim build I wear a Misses size 12 I could not zip the zipper they were so small.I was so disappointed. The material seem good and the color was good. I did notice that when I opened the fade jean package, there was no size or plastic stripe on the size, like this was a return and someone had taken the tags off.The other pair had the tags on. I need a jean that the waist is a little higher than normal. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to walk into a store like we use to do buy the size you usually wore and walk out with a well fitting item. Oh those were the days. Sending these Jeans back.
