How should a men's vest fit if I want to wear it over a shirt or sweater?

A men's vest should fit comfortably through the chest and arm openings without pulling or gaping. Measure your chest at the fullest point in inches, then compare your measurement to the size chart on the product page. Always check the Size & Fit notes for that specific style before choosing between sizes.

What is the difference between Slightly Fitted, Traditional Fit and Slim Fit in men's vests?

Slightly Fitted is a closer-to-the-body shape, Traditional Fit has a more classic amount of room, and Slim Fit is the narrowest silhouette. The fit label is there to help you predict how the vest will feel through the chest and waist. Confirm the intended fit by reviewing the Size & Fit section on the product page.

Where should the hem of a men's vest fall?

The hem placement depends on the specific style. Many product pages include a length note such as "falls at hip" to help you picture where it will hit on your body. Check that note along with the photos before deciding between two sizes.

Are hooded or reversible men's vests available?

Yes, some men's vests are offered in hooded and reversible designs. The product name and photos are the quickest way to confirm if a specific vest includes a hood or is designed to be worn on both sides. Review the product details to understand what changes (like pocket placement) when the vest is reversed.

How do I care for a men's vest so it keeps its shape?

Follow the Fabric & Care instructions on the individual product page, since care can vary by style. Use the listed washing and drying guidance for that specific vest rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all routine. If you are caring for a reversible style, follow the same instructions for either side.

Men's Vests from L.L.Bean are an easy way to add a sleeveless piece to your outfit. This assortment includes a range of silhouettes, from streamlined styles to pocket-rich designs that bring extra function to what you wear. Whether you prefer a clean, classic look or more built-in storage, a well-chosen vest can pull an outfit together in a simple, comfortable way.

When you compare styles, focus on the details you will use most: full-zip fronts, collars that sit close to the neck, and hooded options when you want that added coverage. You will also find design-driven updates like colorblocked looks, quilted patterns, and reversible builds on select styles. Look closely at product photos for pocket placement, hem shape, and the overall profile so the vest feels like a natural match with the rest of your closet.

Fit is key. Measure your chest at the fullest point in inches and compare your measurements to the size chart on the product page. Then review any Size & Fit notes such as Slightly Fitted, Traditional Fit, or Slim Fit, and check the listed length notes to see where the hem is intended to fall. If you plan to wear your vest over thicker pieces, choose a size that gives you comfortable room through the chest and shoulders.
