Rated 1 out of 5 poor quality example
this was my third pair of leather slippers from LLBean. within 3 months of wearing the inner sole became detached from the next layer of leather. I attempted repair by using a good adhesive (Gorilla glue) applied between layers of leather allowing the repair to dry for multiple days. upon wearing them again the leather once again became detached from the next layer.
as I said, these were my third pair, I am returning them along with a new pair of the Bison leather slippers I just received on 9/21/2015 from LLBean for a similar issue with the inner sole, although the innersole on the Bison pair appears to be the problem.
would I buy either type in the future, of course I will.
I suspect I have had the misfortune of receiving poor quality examples.
(I cannot obtain a good photo of the original pair of leather slippers, but have attached a photo of the issue with the Bison slippers).

Love the shoes, best bargain for the quality out there. Had a pair previously that lasted 7-8 years.

I bought the leather slippers and the bison slippers so I could compare them before picking one. They are identical except the Bison slippers have texture on their tops and sides. The leather slippers are smooth all over and might be a little stiffer. I picked the Bisons because I think they are more attractive.
Both are very very nice slippers and share the following characteristics:
- Both fit my narrow size 13 foot just fine.
- Both have a nice leather lining.
- The white stitching on both is very precise.
- They have an leather insole that is glued in place but that at first glance looked like one of those removable insoles like you'd find in running shoes. This insole has a dark colored man-made part that extends to the sides of the lighter colored leather part.
- They both seem to have some padding in their sole.
People seem to complain about the slipperiness of the sole. If you've ever bought a loafer or dress shoe with a leather sole, then you are familiar with slippery soles. If it bugs you, just give 'em a little scuffing on the sidewalk. It doesn't bug me enough to feel the need to scuff them and I have been walking around on hardwood and carpeted floors in the fleece-lined bisons since Christmas.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ReviewerSlipper Far too expensive, OK quality slipper
I have worn two LL Bean slippers for the last 20 years. One being this Men's Leather Double-Sole Slipper. I won't buy it anymore as its price far exceeds its quality and too short wear life. Too bad LL Bean doesn't offer a similar slipper at a far more reasonable price. It's an ok slipper to purchase if you want and can spend over $90.00 (inc. tax here in CT).

Wonderful slippers. Comfort is great. However, their use is very limited, since I can't go to the basement, and especially can't go to the wood pile in them! They, and several others of your best slippers, have no protective sole!!

I have gone through two pairs in 10 years. I wear them constantly, even in the summer as my inside shoes. I am just ordering my third pair now, and while they appeared to be out of stock, the costumer service rep found me a pair at a store. As always, LLBean comes through.

Slippers feel great but this is my 2nd pair in less than two years because the bottoms ware out and get holes. My 2nd pair I made sure not to ware them outside and they lasted a few months longer! If they will put soles on these slippers I will buy another pair. Right now I'm waiting for my new pair with soles on them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by temanjena Great Shoes But Too Slick to Wear!!
Received as a present but sending back because my house is carpeted and wearing these slippers find it impossible to walk across a room without almost falling. They fit great & look better but if you have carpet...these are slicker than trying to walk on ice. My son loved them -- he could easily 'skate' across the living room! I thought about 'scuffing' up the bottom but if that did not work, then wasted the shoes.

i really like these slippers i wear them in the house only, Because we Don't wear our shoes in the house ,i probably will order again ,unless i can find something with heaver leather on the bottom , these wear out as in ( holes in the bottom) In about six to eight months .I would pay twice as much for these if they had thicker leather and would wear for lets's say two years. Don.t count on them lasting any longer
