Rated 3 out of 5 by llbeanshopperinma33 loved style, but color and zipper off
I tried this on in the store in the field gray color. I'm typically between a S and M in tops and the S fit with plently of room to spare. I am a connoisseur of military style jackets - they're a staple in my wardrobe. I LOVED the style of this jacket, but I found the color a little too pale for my liking and the zipper pull was very flimsy and unexpected for this style of jacket. If L.L. Bean offered this in a slightly darker shade with a better zipper, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

I like this stylish jacket. I bought it in the fig color. One recommendation would be to have the darker colors lined for fall and winter use and the lighter colors unlined for spring use. I also bought the fig infinity scarf, and together, they make a sharp outfit.

I ordered this jacket in the Mineral Red and LOVE IT! The color is as shown on the website - a dark salmon color. I am 5'8", 130 lbs and the medium fits wonderfully. I usually have a problem with sleeves being too short, but these are perfect. I washed it, hung it to dry, and there was no shrinkage and no need to iron. Also, my iPhone does fit in the bottom pockets! This is a lightweight jacket, perfect for spring and fall!

Really flattering jacket! The olive grey color is really pretty and trendy. The zipper occasionally gets a little sticky, and I wish it had a hood, but those are the only (minor) complaints I have. I'm a size 14 and 5'9" and purchased an XL and found it was a great size and the length was perfect. I highly recommend this versatile jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5 by BayAreaBeaner Great after a touch-up with the iron
I live in San Jose but work in San Francisco. The famous line about San Francisco summers is mostly true: the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. During the warm-weather months, the temperature difference between work and home is often 20-25 degrees. My strategy is to dress for the heat but add a light jacket, and my LL Bean unlined field jacket is just the ticket after a little ironing. It's a flattering cut on me, and I appreciate that LL Bean carries this jacket in extended sizes. I started with the olive gray, just bought the navy and the fig, and I have the lined gray on backorder. (If only LL Bean would learn to carry more items in extended sizes with a good selection of colors!)

I purchased this jacket to travel to southern France. Years ago Bean's had a travel blazer with deep zippered pockets which I wore out and haven't found anything suitable since. This jacket is a traveler's dream. With 6 pockets, 4 with snaps and 2 with zippers I didn't need to get into my purse for travel documents, boarding passes etc.
The weight of the jacket is such that it is a summer weight, easily washable, and even after living in it for 2 weeks, doesn't show the soil despite its light gray color. Comfortable, functional and useful, goes with everything.....I couldn't ask for a better traveling companion. I have now ordered the same jacket that will come out in the fall with fleece lining. Thank you, Beans.

by 70young Wonderful casual summer jacket with one exception!
I began wearing this Freeport Field Jacket the day after receiving it and found the fit to be perfect. However, within 15 minutes, the back of my neck developed an irritation that got to be intolerable because of the scratchy polyester label sewn inside the neckband . These labels should be banned! They are woven polyester that are heat-sealed at the edges which make the edges quite sharp. Unfortunately I didn't have scissors handy to cut off the label so by the time I got home 5 hours later, the nape of my neck felt like it had a hundred paper cuts. I'm really surprised the buyers or QA people at LL Bean did not notice this flaw in an otherwise very nice garment. The solution was simple - just cut off the label - but I learned it the hard way.

Love this jacket , this is my 2nd Freeport field jacket as I also have the lined jacket in camouflage print . This time I went a size up because of a little weight gain. I wish I could still get the camouflage jacket because I would upgrade the size in that too. It's perfect it's very area there is except I was expecting the color to have more gray in it and it appears to be more dark green than any gray at all , other than the color it's perfect . 5stars

Fabulous jacket! I wasn't certain of the sizing, so I purchased a petite small in olive gray and a regular small in the light almond. The petite small was a perfect fit for me. For sizing reference, I am 5'2", 32D and 130 lbs. A regular small was just a little too big overall.
The olive gray is a lovely color. Gives a military inspired look which I really love. The jacket is light enough for spring with enough room for lighter layers. I wasn't crazy about the light almond color and was hoping for a more khaki color for a safari inspired look. The color just missed my expectations.
The overall quality is excellent. Lots of details with pockets.
I get many compliments and can dress up or down. Great for office or running errands. A real winner!
