Rated 5 out of 5 by Tiffers923 Convenient Jacket!
I bought this jacket a few months ago because campus is always windy-- my clothes always end up soaked, and my umbrella usually gets destroyed. I prefer rain jackets, but who wants to carry a jacket around all day? When folded, this is easy to fit into a backpack or tote, which means I can always keep it on days when there is spontaneous rain. It repels water well, but I haven't washed it yet.
I got this in the Alpine Gold because it was on sale, it's a LOUD color but it goes well with my navy Bean Boots. Also, I don't have to worry about blending into the background on stormy days! I got this in an XL and it's a bit loose. I usually wear a Large but the looseness lets me layer quite a bit under it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by LittleElephants Perfect rain jacket
This jacket just came in the mail yesterday, and this morning we had a nice steady rain, so I went for a walk to see how good the jacket was in the rain. It was PERFECT in every way. Nice and light, the zipper zips up to my chin so no rain gets in at the neck, the cuffs are snug but not too tight, the length is perfect, and it is completely waterproof. And when I got back home, I just shook the rain off the jacket while I was on my porch, so it didn't drip water onto the floor in the house. I ordered the mulberry color, which was on sale, and it is a rich, beautiful color. And using my coupons, it cost only around six dollars. What a bargain, even at full price !!! I highly recommend this jacket.

I ordered this Discovery Rain Jacket in Dark Royal Blue.
It has cheap zipper pulls.
The hood has elastic and messes my hair.
The hood does not detach.
The sleeves do not have snaps or velcro for adjustment
Cheap mesh, cheap velcro.
No internal pocket.
No fabric below the zip so that you have something to hold onto when zipping the jacket up.
No two-way front zipper.
I wish LL Bean would go back to making quality jackets.

The jacket fits perfectly and I love it. Does anyone know how to fold it to fit in its own pocket? Can't seem to figure it out. LLBean needs to send a tutorial with the jacket.

Rated 2 out of 5 by olderpetlover Sizing problem
Just received my rain jacket, Glad I read the previous reviews and ordered a size larger than what I usually do. Normally I wear a large and this time I ordered an extra large. I was hoping to be able to put layers under it, but the fit across the chest area is snug with just a tank top on. There doesn't appear to be any styling to the body and the fabric is cut straight down on the sides. No drawstring on the bottom hem so I'm not sure it will keep the wind out at all. Hood again has no drawstring but instead is oversized to hang out past your face to keep the rain off. Will have to wait for rain to see if it is waterproof or not.

Rated 5 out of 5 by CanadianTexan Love this jacket!!
I almost didn't purchase this jacket because of one review stating it was more of a wind breaker than a rain jacket and did not keep the buyer dry. I am so happy I took a chance and purchased this jacket. We have been having the most rain I have seen in a long time with extreme downpours!!! I was completely dry except for my jeans because I don't have rain pants. Although it is raining, the temperature is still in the 80's but never felt sweaty wearing this jacket and I never felt like I was wearing plastic, somehow it is water proof and breathable! I purchased the royal blue and I love it! It fits true to size. I am 5'2" 145 lbs and I wear a size medium. I can wear it with or without a light sweater or hoodie. Because of my height, it covers my butt. When I outstretch my arms in front of me the sleeves end just distal of my wrist without feeling tight. I love the sip pockets, my phone stayed dry too! I plan on purchasing another along with rain pants!! I would definitely recommend this rain jacket, it's perfect!!

I love the jacket, just wish it came in larger size. The princess seams are a real plus in fitting. However, with a large bust, this is not roomy enough for comfort. I am sending it back, with regrets. I, too wish that arm length would be considered, even if in medium and long lengths offered. The arm length on XL is just about right for me; if I could order larger size, I know the length would be too long.

I took this on a 2.5 week trek through New Zealand, where it rained every day in varying amounts. Let me tell you, my torso was dry! (I wish I had thought to buy rain pants in hindsight.)
I am fairly slight in frame and usually buy XS for most things, but purchased a S in case I wanted to wear many layers. Small was just right for me, even with a tank top underneath, but I also really hate feeling things clinging to me, especially in relation to wet things. A few shakes and most of the water fell off.
This jacket is lightweight, waterproof, windproof (I enjoyed it mostly for its wind resistance, though it kept all the rain away), and the mulberry color is flattering. Someone mentioned the cuffs aren't tight enough--mine were just tight enough (again, don't like clingy, but didn't have any trouble with the rain). And it stuffs easily into one pocket--find the pocket with the double zipper, flip inside out and keep stuffing.
This one's inexpensive, lightweight, and a keeper.

Rated 2 out of 5 by EAFE Alteration of sleeves needed
Great jacket but the elastic in the sleeves is sized much too large. You can see how loose the sleeves are in the picture of the model. I ordered petite and had to shorten the sleeves and reduce the elastic about 2 inches and I have large wrists. That is why the rating is 2 stars. It would have gotten a 5 if there was no problem with the sleeves.

Rated 1 out of 5 by SambaK Not Waterproof At All
I ordered the mulberry color and waited for it as it was on backorder. I was pleased with it until I actually needed to wear it in the rain. The water immediately soaked through and all of my clothing ended up wet. I am beginning to be convinced that the only truly waterproof rain jackets have to be PVC. I am going to try another company as I really like the fact that the fabric is supposed to breathe, but this one breathed too much and let the water in!
