Let me first just say that I really do like this jacket. It's close to exactly what I was looking for. I wanted a nice looking, comfortable, dependable, and water-proof jacket. I think this hits these needs pretty well. I looked at a ton of different options, and ultimately decided to spend a little more money than I initially wanted to, thinking that I was spending more to get higher quality.
I bought this jacket at the sale price of $150...I wouldn't have bought it for the full $200+ price. I also bought it a week earlier than the current $10 gift card promotion, so I missed out on it essentially costing $140.
I'm torn on whether to keep or return it. I read about the issues with the zipper getting caught, and thought that people were exaggerating (OK...maybe I even thought that they were dumb and somehow not using it right, but certainly I would not have the issue! ). I also read that LL Bean had apparently fixed the problem, so I thought it was still a safe buy. Unfortunately, the zipper problem is actually ridiculous. It seriously gets caught EVERY time I use it. Frustrating that I like the jacket so much otherwise, so not sure what to do. Can't decide if with the zipper issue it is still worth the $150 price tag.
I'll say that if this jacket was at about a $50 price point I wouldn't ever consider returning it. If you think you can live with an annoying zipper for $150 I would recommend this jacket. If that's too much for you to spend for something that is not perfect, save some time and look elsewhere.

Rated 1 out of 5áby Beast Nice Jacket, Poor Design
This jacket fits and looks very nice. I tried it on when it arrived and unfortunately the zipper jammed repeatedly. The material adjacent to the zipper fed into it every time I tried to zip and unzip the jacket. I returned the jacket and asked L.L.Bean to send me another one of the same jacket. When it arrived, again the zipper jammed. A comment in the reviews suggests that they fixed this design flaw, but it is not fixed. I recommend that you do not purchase this jacket.

This raincoat wasn't what we had hoped for. For one thing, the zippers kept catching on nearby fabric (a problem we've had with another LL Bean raincoat as well). Second, the fabric was shinier and cheaper-looking than we expected based on other GoreTex raincoats we've owned. Finally, it wasn't quite as long as we had hoped (for L/tall size purchased for a 6'2" man). We ended up sending it back and searching elsewhere for a replacement.

My remarks pertain to the men's large (L) Stowaway Rainwear jacket in Alpine Gold.
I bought this jacket at the Freeport store in June 2015. I really like the styling and comfort. I wore it while hiking in Arcadia National Park and around town in Bar Harbor, and it did a great job blocking the wind and repelling rain.
Unfortunately, the Taffeta liner in the right sleeve extended beyond the cuff about 1 inch--a decidedly unwanted feature. I eventually got tired of stuffing the liner back up in the sleeve and I returned it to Bean and ordered a replacement of the same color and size. Amazingly, the replacement has the exact same problem with the sleeve liner!
I would rate the jacket with four stars instead of three if it weren't for this problem. I really like the jacket, so I guess I'll pin up the sleeve for the time being and wait until Bean gets a new batch of size L, alpine gold jackets from Bangladesh.

I expect a lot from LL Bean products ! This jacket was all that I expected. The zipper is robust, the first thing I checked. The fit is what I wanted, cut to fit over a fleece jacket, if needed. The hood, normally stashed behind the collar is large enough to cover my baseball cap. The color, I ordered the " blue", is a nice shade, not too dark yet not too bright. Overall, a nice jacket/ raincoat.

This purchase is my 5th Gore-Tex Stowaway jacket. Of course, I like the fact that the jacket keeps me dry, but I also like the fact that I don't get too warm. California is in the midst ot a drought so I hope that I can test the jacket soon!

My several-year-old Stowaway is a wonderfully versatile jacket: walking to work in all weather, cycling, hiking, or pulling on over a sport coat for slightly more elegant activities. But it's wearing out. I was pleased to see that Bean's still carries it.
Except that they have wrecked it. If you look closely at the picture, you'll see that there is a 2-inch rounded flap in back. That's the only place the jacket covers a sport coat; everywhere else it sticks out about 2 inches. What a pointless change.
The jacket no longer has the versatility I need. I returned it with a sigh.

Great jacket for excercising in Wisconsin. Keeps the wind out, keeps you dry when it rains, and lets moisture out when you work up a sweat.
The jacket is well made and true to size.

I can't begin to tell you how miserable my husband was when he discovered that he had lost his favorite jacket. We bought the jacket prior to going on an Alaskan adventure, and the jacket was a godsend! He wore it every day when it was cold and when it was warm. The hood deflected the wind and the cold, and with a sweater or sweatshirt underneath, it protected him when it was freezing! Fortunately, my order was still on file, and I am giving this jacket to him once again for a holiday gift.my thanks to the always helpful customer service representative who helped me with this order. I should have had it monogrammed or put a name tag in it!

These jackets have an inherent problem with zipper. It constantly jams. Stay away from the StowAway.
