Rated 1 out of 5áby Eubrontes1 NOT waterproof at all
In a light rain the coat is wetter on the inside than it is on the outside. Beads of water from reverse breathing and then condensing on the inside. Breathability is a myth anyway, if a fabric passes water vapor out, it will also pass water vapor in, which is apparently happening with the questionable TEK2 technology. I tried really really hard to love this coat, but a half-dozen times in the rain and coming back wet on the inside is too much. It is brand new, and it is not flaking or leaking at the seams, etc. I even took pictures of the beads of moisture today. Definitely sending back asap. It is also way too short to be useful, your pants pockets will get all wet. I ordered the Stowaway Rainwear with Gore-Tex, Jacket and it is way better. I was going to keep the Trail Model, but now it is going back for sure.

This was a disappointing purchase. Although I do like the color and the overall look, it is not true to size. I own several L.L. Bean fleeces in the same size as the coat, and they do not fit underneath, defeating the whole idea of wearing the coat in chillier weather that requires a midweight layer. The placket under the zipper keeps getting caught in the zipper. It's also very humid under the coat: it's like wearing a ziplock bag.
I'm strongly considering returning it.

This jacket seems great when you first try it on and wear it. But, as others have noted, the waterproof layer begins to crack and fleck off much sooner than it should. I returned mine, got a replacement, and the replacement has had the same problem. Really a pity.

I'm a big LL Bean fan and have decades of great experience with other LL Bean stuff, so I'll just assume that this jacket was a fluke. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the interior lining has flaked off, reducing the jacket's waterproof function. Consequently, I'm going to return mine. That being said, when it was brand new and the lining hadn't fallen off yet, it was an excellent jacket: extremely light and perfectly waterproof.

This is a decent rain jacket. In my estimation the quality is good and this jacket is fine for light to moderate rain and as a regular light windbreaker. I would not expect it to perform as well under heavy storm conditions. I was initially a bit wary about the quality as the reviews from the 6 months prior to my purchase seemed to indicate a quality issue.
I would prefer at least 1 interior pocket and one additional exterior pocket and for this reason my rating is 4 instead of 5 stars.

áby CPWhite Guess I'm not the only one...
Well, as many others on here have shown, the liner on my jacket is also falling cracking and coming off. I just noticed it a few weeks ago while traveling.
I really like this jacket a lot, but the fact that's it's falling apart after wearing it maybe 3 dozen times (and in weather that is far from extreme) over the year and a half I've owned it is quite disappointing.
I'm surprised they're still selling it... hopefully the issue has been taken care of.

áby EricNWisconsin Ineffective lining
As many other reviewers have noted, the lining comes apart relatively quickly, rendering it useless as a rain coat (see pic). I have had mine for 1.5 years and with moderate use (more or less daily but only during the winter and spring), the lining has come undone.

Rated 2 out of 5áby DavidR Seems shorter than it used to be
I bought one of these a long time ago and recently passed it on to my Dad and bought a new one. The new one seems to be shorter in the body by 4-6 inches - which, of course, means more of me gets wet.
Please go back to making it longer.

My wife and I both purchased this coat a couple of years ago. We enjoyed the light weight, great fit, color, etc of the jacket. While the coat initially as great for warding off the rain and wind, over about a six month period we noticed that the jackets began to lose their water repellency even though we only had mild use age of the jackets. Now another complaint we have is that the jackets lining began to crack around the necks and would begin peeling away from the inside. I like L.L Bean service and most of the products have been satisfactory. I am very disappointed in the non-longevity of this jacket and would not recommend it. There are others to spend your hard earned money on that will last much longer.

This jacket has gone everywhere with me since May, 2015. Great for travel, running errands and outdoor use. It is lightweight and packs well. Used with a sweater/mid weight layer comfort levels can be maintained even on cold, damp days. It is an excellent windbreaker and has come in handy on cool evenings throughout the year. Breathability is good for a rain jacket. The jacket I own is not waterproof, but does repel water for a period of time. On a recent five hour hike, in steady light rain and snow, water absorbed through the material making my under layers damp. It has been washed on the delicate setting, turned inside out, with baby detergent, no softener and air dried and cleans up very nicely. Overall, a very nice water repellant jacket.
