Rated 4 out of 5 by PetXtraSmall Pretty good fit
After trying a 6.5W and finding it a bit narrow in the instep for my wide, flat foot, even though the size seemed a bit longer than it should be for a 6.5, I decided to take a gamble and try a 6W. Imagine my delighted surprise when the 6W fit almost like a glove. The length is perfect.(I have always worn a 6.5) and the width is right. I have a hard time getting fitted and have tried a LOT of lace-up walking shoes, so I was relieved to find these will work for me, that is, for the black. The white in the same size is still too narrow so back it goes, weird. Quality control at NB could use some tweaking, I think.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DeWinter Perfect for standing on your feet all day!
These look better than regular athletic shoes because of the leather upper. I should have heeded the advice I got on the phone from the LLBean representative. She told me to order 1/2 size larger because they ran short, but I didn't do this because I always buy New Balance and they always fit to size. I'll assume they are smarter than me the next time. I did do an exchange. I always get perfect customer service from them. My only regret is that there is no LLBean in WI. They're on my bucket list.

These shoes are okay as far as comfort goes. They are a little tight through the toe area so be sure to order at least 1/2 size larger than your normal size. Also they tend to make noise when you walk which I dont particularly care for.

Very odd looking shoe. It has a "stubby" look to it, very stunted and too rounded. It looks too Orthopedic for the average woman to wear. I am disappointed and am sending mine back. It is unfortunate; I have worn other New Balance shoes in the past and loved them. I hope this was just a flaw in this particular pair and that the whole production of this shoe is not the same.

Rated 4 out of 5 by LLBean1931 This is my second pair
I haven't worn this new pair for long but so far so good.
I already own the same sneaker from LLBean that I purchased close to 3 years ago and have been very happy with the fit and looks.
That is why I just purchased another pair.
The only reason I am giving it 4 stars and not 5 is because I just haven't worn the new pair much.

I love these shoes. Perfect fit, ordered an 11 but if there had been a 10 1/2 it would have been too short. Started off with two mile walks, no breaking in and off we went. Like the non-mesh uppers for colder weather and less sand!

shoe is very stiff feeling, so requires some "break in" time. Otherwise, seems to be comfortable.

Fit is good. Just what I was looking for. Glad your salesperson was able to help me find the right size for me since I have a small foot with high arch and high instep. It works for me when I am on my treadmill. Thank you llBean.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MidnightBlue Didn't work for me
These might work well for some people(my rating is based on the fact they did not work for me at all). I certainly had high hopes for them for my hard to fit, problem feet and many positive reviwws. I have very wide toes and very narrow heels and I had researched (elsewhere?note to LL Bean: please list the last a shoe is made on if a company uses different ones for different shoes such as NB does!) and seen that these were made on the NB SL-2 last, which has these features.
Problem is I also have a "low volume" foot?I have a normal arch but flattish everywhere else. And these were way way too high/deep, even with an orthotic in and trying various ways of lacing them. Also huge around the instep, too wide there in addition to too deep.
They did fit my very wide forefront (ordered wide) and almost my heel?still a little loose but probably could have made work with lacing techniques. I use to love NB shoes but it seems they no longer make a fit that works for my foot. They seem to have gotten progressively deeper over the years (Im talking about the SL-2 last)
So if you have a very deep/high volume foot (and maybe orthotics too) in addition to wide toes and narrow heels, they might work. They are big & clunky-looking, but I wouldn't have cared if they had fit. I'm desperate for some walking or even running shoes that fit & are comfortable.
I noticed they felt quite stiff (leather isn't very soft, almost feels like plastic though apparently it's not, so I assume it would get softer with wear) and the tongue is rather short if you need to use the extra set of eyelets on top so the shoe lace slips off. I would put up with these things if they fit me. But unfortunately my search continues... Writing this detailed review in the hopes it will help someone else in terms of what to expect re: the fit.
