Rated 5 out of 5 by activeoutdoorsylady great shell
Wish all rain gear were made like this shell. Love the soft and quiet outer material and it IS waterproof. Not a hunter, but a woodsy girl, and don't want girl- colored coats. Have the insulated version also. Fit is comfortable, a bit large - S for 5'6", 140 lbs, but great when layered for changing temps.

I am very pleased with the fit and quality of this coat. I can't wait to try it out. I also purchased the pants with this coat. Thank you LL Bean.
P.S I just love the camo pattern ( Mossy Oak Tree Stand ).!!!!

Great full performance shell! Waterproof, ample room for layers (offered by Bean) and just plain great for hiking. So comfortable it doesn't required much layering. I've walked it in the woods from 25 degrees with just a T-shirt and wool shirt underneath and while actively walking been very warm. One of the best pieces of outdoor equipment I've ever owned. Plan to take it to the Azores in the spring.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CTDeerchaser Review update
After using this for 4yrs, I've found it to be water resistant, not fully water proof. Also, moisture accumulates on the inside of the shell that escapes the liner jacket. This isn't a high end shell that will let the moisture escape.
Also, the heavyweight liner jacket doesn't allow much room - if any - for layering.
Overall, the basic shell/heavyweight liner is good to about the high 20s on a windless day for sitting in a stand. Probably more like the 30s when the wind picks up. If you're looking for extreme cold (teens and below) this isn't the combo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Jport Overall Good Jacket, Could Use Some Improvements.
I purchased this jacket last weekend and just returned from the opening day of Maine deer season. I wore the basic shell in my stand with the primaloft hunter's jacket as a liner. Temps were in the 40s, I stayed warm and the fabric is really quiet. Had a passing shower and the jacket kept them damp out.
I really like this jacket but one area that I think can be improved on is adding a couple more pockets. The only two pockets are the front bottom pockets, which are big enough to hold gear like hats, gloves, calls, etc. But I think this jacket could really benefit from a chest pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by revlloy Nice rainwear
This coat kept me dry during this years rainy archery season. It fits well and is quiet. When the temp got cold, a couple of base layers kept me warm. I wish it had a few more pockets. Please note that if you get too warm, moisture does collect on the inside of the coat.

Rated 1 out of 5 by rgar1 Not adequate breathability
I really like all the features of this jacket, but there is one over-riding negative. This jacket is marketed as breathable, but the sleeve liners are 100% nylon. And there are no pit-vents. I may heat up during the day and moisture builds up in the sleeves and they become wet. This is unacceptable condition for me in a cold climate and I have to return the item.

I purchased the Game Camo outfit for guiding moose hunters in Maine. During the first week of use we had 3 days of heavy rain, in which I remained dry and wam. The only draw back to the outfit is the outer shell does not breathe well. I thought the outfit performed well and as a outer layer during heavy rain and it kept me warm in the early mornings and late afternoons when temps were in the high 30's.

This is a quality cover that keeps me dry and comfortable. I was considering the Technical Shell but could not justify nearly twice the price for zippers and patches. The Basic Shell does the job for me. Nice lining and enough room for layers.
