Get Ready for Fun in the Sun at the Beach
To many people, summer fun means spending as much time as possible at the beach. We agree! Before you go, there are a few simple things you can do to be safe.

A portable shelter or beach umbrella is a great way to take a total break from the sun, especially when it’s time for a nap. Our Sunbuster Shelter also features privacy screens so you can change into dry clothes comfortably.
2. Sun-Blocking Clothing
The sun can burn skin in as little as 15 minutes, so it’s important to cover up. We recommend wearing clothing rated to at least UPF 30. Our SunSmart clothing is rated UPF 50 and is designed to keep you cool, dry and protected from the sun. The specially designed fabric breathes well, wicks moisture away from your skin and blocks about 10 times more UV rays than a white cotton tee, so you can stay outside longer.
You’ll need to protect your eyes from the sun reflecting harshly off the sand and water. A good pair of polarized sunglasses that wrap around your face is the best choice. They’ll block 100% of the sun’s UV rays for total protection.
4. Hats & Footwear
A full-coverage, UPF-rated hat will do a nice job of protecting your face, ears and head from the sun. They’re built from lightweight, quick-drying and moisture-wicking fabric that also helps keep you cool.
We all know the feeling of walking barefoot on hot sand that’s been baking in the sun all day. That’s why a good pair of sandals is a must-have for the beach. They should be lightweight, water-resistant and have a sturdy sole that offers some traction.
Bring along plenty of full water bottles to stay hydrated on a hot day. A good cooler full of ice will keep it all cold, so you can always have a refreshing drink handy. And it’s always a good idea to throw some food in there when your stomach starts grumbling!
6. Other Necessities
Always apply sunscreen rated SPF 30 or stronger to skin that’s not covered. And don’t forget UPF-rated lip balm for your lips; they can also burn very quickly. Make sure you always reapply each after swimming.
