0:00 — Introduction
We haven't changed much about the Mountain Classic Anorak since 1992, but that's the point. It's been a favorite since day one.
0:10 — Introduction to the Anorak
Hi, I'm Megan. I'm a senior designer here at L.L.Bean. I'm here today to talk about the Mountain Classic Anorak.
0:18 — History
The Mountain Classic Anorak was first introduced in 1992. Fun fact, an early prototype was worn and tested on the Peace Climb of Mount Everest in 1990.
0:27 — Versatility
At the time, there was a growing appetite for versatile clothing. Pieces that could take you from mountain to town, which led to a surge in popularity for pieces like this.
0:34 — The Mountain Classic Collection
The Mountain Classic collection has evolved and expanded over the years. But the Anorak was the product that started it all. It was and still is the crown jewel in the collection. Let's talk about the features of the Mountain Classic Anorak.
0:50 — Design and Materials
This style is a pullover style, slightly fitted, but it's still roomy enough to get on and off. It's made out of a very soft, quiet, durable material. It's lightweight, wind and water resistant.
0:58 — Kangaroo Pocket
One of the most iconic features of the Mountain Classic Anorak is the oversized kangaroo pocket here at the front. You can put your gloves, snacks, anything sort of fits in there when you're on the go.
1:06 — Details
So, it features the Katahdin label here at the chest. The same jacquard tape from the original 1990s version. It has Bean Boot lace-inspired draw cords at the hood and on the zippers.
1:22 — Adjustable Hem and Packability
The style also has a draw cord at the hem so you can cinch it, make it any length you want. Packs up into its own pocket so you can take it with you on the go.
1:29 — Packable Design
Can use it as a little pillow too if you want. We know that our customer loves color here. So we've done so many different color combinations. We like to keep it fresh so the customer has something new to look for when they look for their next anorak.
1:37 — Personal Review
The perfect windbreaker. The retro colors and style make me happy every time I wear it. I get so many compliments on it, but the biggest was from my 18-year-old son who borrowed it one cool evening, and now he wants his own for Christmas. He doesn't even care if we match. That's the perfect review.
