[00:00:09.68] Hey. I'm Ryan, the senior retail merchant of hunt fish here at L.L. Bean. When I first came to L.L. Bean, I started as the general manager of the hunt fish store. I got to here on a day in, day out basis what customers want, what customers needed. At the end of the day, it's about making somebody's outdoor experience better. Back in 2005, when we first developed our bug protection clothing, it was originally designed for hunters and anglers.
[00:00:35.18] Over time, this product line has evolved and it's evolved so that people who are gardening at a soccer match with their kids or grandkids, who are out for a hike or a walk in their neighborhood can enjoy these things and not have to worry about mosquitoes or ticks. So how does our bug protection clothing work? Our bug protection clothing is treated with Permethrin. Permethrin is a synthetic form of a chemical that's created by the chrysanthemum flower that naturally repels bugs.
[00:01:01.54] I'm going to show you just how effective this technology is, but that takes a lot of mosquitoes. So if bugs gross you out, you might want to skip forward a little. I'd never stick my arms in a box filled with mosquitoes, but luckily our friends at no fly zone did that for us. Thanks, guys. If you're concerned at all about bug sprays, Permethrin treated clothing like ours is a great alternative. When I think about bug spray, I think about the need to constantly be reapplying and I have this greasy feeling on my hands or my skin.
[00:01:30.42] When I wear our bug protection apparel, it's just the opposite. I'm wearing just a shirt. Each garment is good for up to 70 laundering. One of my favorite things about this shirt is that it still feels like a normal shirt. It's soft. It's supple. It's a treated shirt with tons of benefit and the same great feel that you've always been used to. You also get a UPF 50+ rating to protect you from the sun.
[00:01:55.52] We also put neat little features in our garments where we have things like a sunglass chamois, so you can clean your sunglasses. We add a little bit of stretch into some of our garments, and we have pockets for storage as well too. And we have some great roll tabs on the sleeves that allow you to roll this up from a long sleeve shirt into a short sleeve shirt.
