Crafted in France by Opinel, makers of fine knives since 1890, this knife features a handle made from reclaimed maple wood from the bottom of Maine’s Moosehead Lake that's over 100 years old.
In the 1900s, lumberjacks moved huge quantities of timber down the length of Moosehead Lake. Occasionally logs sank to the bottom of the lake, where they were perfectly preserved in an oxygen-free environment. We’ve partnered with Opinel to reclaim this wood and create the handle of this knife. Opinel has built knives in the French Alps since 1890, with a focus on design and durability. Crafted in the foothills of the Alps, the Moosehead Knife embodies this tradition and craftsmanship.
