Rated 2 out of 5 by 60yearswithbeans Strange arm holes
My coat is going back. I'm disappointed. The armholes are cut way too high and they are lumpy on the lower side. No room for anything but a t-shirt beneath. Otherwise it fits fine. Other reviewers have commented on the armhole issue.

It's hard to find a pea coat that is 100% wool and not $300, let alone one that is lined with Thinsulate. So, despite being skeptical of sizing, I ordered this in a 4 because that's the smallest size they make.
I'm a true 4: 5'6", 125-130lbs, 34-26-36. When the coat came, I was impressed by the softness of the wool and the warmth of the coat, but it was just so baggy- I had at least 5" of extra fabric around the waist and it hung like a tent on me. It fit well in the arms, shoulders, and chest though so I decided to bring it to a seamstress. She put princess seams in the back and was able to make the coat fit much better, thankfully.
LL Bean, please make smaller sizes! The "size 4" coat fit my size 8-10 mother!

I bought this coat HOPING it would fit as I would like, as it's hard to find coats that fit properly everywhere?you always have an area you give in with. This coat exceeded my expectation! I will say the color is much darker in person then it appears online, but if you like coral/orange then you should like this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by AKLivin Exactly What I Wanted
I've been wanting a one of these for a while. I tried on several different ones from other stores, but there wasn't enough room for the girls. I took a chance on ordering this and got the 3X after reading the other comments. I actually could have gotten away with the 2X if I didn't wear any thick sweaters underneath. I also LOVE that it's purple and NOT black. It's so hard to find coats in the larger sizes in anything other than black. I wore it out last night in 34 degree weather with the wind blowing and it was very warm. My only wish is that it had a belt. It is very roomy in the waist and a belt would fix that right up.

This coat is beautiful!! The quality of the wool is outstanding. The coat was carefully packed for shipping in a special box. The sleeve length was perfect for me in a petite size. The coat seems to run true to size for me. The cayenne color is very pretty. Very pleased with this purchase even though it was expensive- it was worth it!

Ordered Navy blue in size 8, my normal size. Sleeves were too long for me, and the waist of the coat was too generous, and therefore did not fit well. (sort of pooched out in the waist area) Also, I could feel in thinsalate lining in the arms and it felt bumpy and rough. Just not what I was hoping for.

I received this coat about one-half hour ago and was so impressed I had to sit down and write this review. First thing I noticed was the way it was packed. The entire coat was lined and sleeves stuffed, with tissue to minimize wrinkling, which it managed to accomplish quite well. Each and every button was wrapped in tissue as well, inside and out. In fact it took a while to get through all this just to try the coat on. I worried over the sizing and ordered a 16 petite. Could hardly have chosen better. I usually suffer from being overwhelmed in a regular size coat with sleeves falling well past the tips of my fingers. The sleeves and overall length are perfect for a 5'2" frame. The size 16 seemed to be a little large but I had hoped it would, allowing for heavier sweaters underneath. The lambs wool is extremely soft and I admired the quilted lining. I am sure this coat will serve me well this winter as well as through many in the future. Keep up the good work.

I have several LL Bean wool coats. I have one peacoat in red from several years ago, and it is holding up well. I bought another one in black this year. I think the fit is perfect and disagree that some reviewers say it is boxy. Most peacoats are boxy for curvy women. I love the thinsulate lining, which you cannot get anywhere else for a wool coat.

Ever since I got this coat, it has been my go-to for both work and casual use. It is soft wool, and has a nicer look than I'd even hoped. I hesitated as the price, even on sale, is still higher than some other similar coats, but I've had great experience with LLBean backpacks and lunchboxes for the kids, and it is great. The only issue -- if there is one -- is that it is a tiny bit tight under the arms, but I think that helps the look.
