Excellent pair of boots. I spoke with customer service before ordering to get sizing and quick lace hooks. Ordered 1 size down from normal shoe size and it works for me. Quick lace eyelets work great. Boots are very comfortable for all day wear.

I am a woman with a man's feet. Also bunions. And llbeans size 8 mens fits me perfectly(unlike the women's size options). I add my orthotic insert, and the only reason I don't sleep in these boots is because my husband won't let me. I LOVE them! I wade through slush and mud and thickets, and these keep my feet warm and dry and supported and make a nice way for me to tuck in my pants and keep any deer ticks out. People warned me that it takes time to lace them up, but honestly, lacing and unlacing my boots are two of my favorite times of the day! Lacing is a great little start up and wind down ritual, and the feeling of having my ankles snug and secure is so much nicer and more athletic feeling than boots which flop around. I've been running and climbing and hiking and wading and do everything in them for three months now, and they show no signs of wear, and my normally painful feet feel great. These boots are like moccasins, only completely waterproof! I did ask the company to replace the laces they sent with a longer lace, and they did. I love these boots and they feel stylish as well as practical.

The leather is very supple and the boots required almost no break in period.
On the downside, lacing up the boots is quite a chore. I should have opted for the speed hooks. Unlike other previous posters, my laces were more than long enough.
If you plan on taking these boots into extreme cold, I would recommend wearing two pairs of wool socks. Also remember to Sno-Seal the boots paying close attention to the stitched seams.
Also remember to keep the boots clean from salt and dirt after wearing.
Overall these boots were a very good purchase. I have waded through swampy, muddy areas, through knee-deep snow and huge puddles and they have never leaked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by kabloona well made and comfortable
Just finished a week of heavy winter use in deep snow both hunting and hiking. Kept my feet warm with a mid-weight sock down to about 20 degrees. No issues with water intrusion although I did not submerge my feet for any length of time. The fit is large. I wear a true size 11 and ordered a size 10 which fit well with the mid-weight sock. I ordered the lacing pegs and am glad I did. The laces seemed plenty long for me. Very satisfied with this purchase as I expect years of good wear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MIwriter Narrow width works great for women's sizing!
This tall boot is not offered for women (there is a shearling-lined version that is) however with the fantastic help of customer service, we decided that a men's 8N should fit a women's 8.5-9 B foot. It does! I have about a three quarter inch space at the toe which is no problem - thick socks or an insert will fill that space. In reading previous reviews, I puchased the speed laces (hooks) for a very nominal charge. When I tried them on, the laces ran too short by about two sets of hooks at the top. L.L.Bean customer service mailed longer laces within a week at no charge. With skinny pants legs tucked in and a pair of wool socks, this boot is warm, practical and beautiful!

Great boot! I have been a Bean customer for 20 years, have both the 12 inch Maine boot and the low cut shoe, but have always wanted a pair of the 16 inch boots. I am 6 Ft. 2 inches tall with a 38 inch inseam, so the shorter boots look "very short". I ordered the lace up hooks and love them! Very good looking boot and the added height really helps in deep snow and rain during our Oklahoma winters. The price was right also, with the Christmas sales specials. I know I will gets lots of wear out of these boots, as with all of my Bean products!
Best hunting boots available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by MIJOE As good as I can get.
If wanted, I can find ways to single out one thing or situation where I wish I had some other boot. If that is your mindset, hamburger can be acquired in slippers.
I'm giving them 5 stars because while not perfect, they do a good to great job overall.
#1 thing to know. You can get a speed hook version of this boot if you call in the order instead of placing order online. So much better with speed laces. I don't know why this option is not offered online.
#2 You are going to need to buy larger laces than what come with the boot, or consider some type of system involving using 2 sets of laces.
Hunting was a pleasure with pants tucked and bloused at top of boots. I suggest a Coolmax liner sock and 80% + wool socks. I have struggled finding the right hunting boot, Comes down to the Bean Boots doing everything you need at least 2nd best in a number of category to some other pair of boots that can only do one or two things right.
Top marks in water proof / resistant for typical deer hunting needs. Dry and a little cold always beats wet and frostbite. They are light weight with a good feel like everyone states. Having the leather up to the knees or so was just wonderful in the snow, briars, and muck. I think it keeps my feet slightly warmer somehow then my other Maine Hunting Boot / Bean Boots, and the pants were is much better shape this year.
FYI, on the coldest days, especially when headed to a day of long blind sitting, I tossed hand warmer packets by my toes, and while the packs ran out of oxygen in the boot, and did not warm much, the packs absorbed moisture, so an added plus. I might do this every day while hunting next year.
The boots do lack in traction going downhill sometimes, but with a little care, they do the job, and make a lot less noise then some clunky boot with great treads.
Must admit, without the speed hook for lacing, the option you can only get by phone orders, I would take a star away. They do build up some moisture, and you should remove the insole over night to let dry.
Good boot.

I wear a 14AAA shoe, I have my boots & shoes custom made until I tried the Bean boots in B width. I do have to wear athletic cotton socks, add arch support, plus a foam shoe pad to take up the slack for the width. This make the boots so comfortable to wear, I wear them every day during the cooler months in Texas. I do put Snow Seal or a waterproof wax over the sewing threads, where the rubber, and leather uppers are sewed together, when treading deep water. A LLBean secret, pay extra $1.00 extra & get quick lacing army studs installed for quick lacing. I also buy leather 63inch shoe strings, they stay tied, and the shipped synthetic lacing break outer covering, I have get scissors to trim white inner material.

Fit well, once they are on. Takes a little effort.
Laces provided are way to short so I had to buy longer ones.

My daughter enjoys wearing these for trekking through wetlands as much as for a fashion statement. She just like the color/height better on the men's than the women's.
