We have 4 green wooden Adirondack chairs that we've loved over the years. Each was an anniversary gift from parents for our first 4 years of marriage. We were so excited once we had all 4, except by year 6, they were starting to rot and the paint was chipping - a friend of mine sat in one and it collapsed.
We store them in the basement where it's dry all winter after washing them off so we've taken care of them. We did replace one, after I had to lug it through the mall, which is an hour and a half away to the closest LL Bean store. I've since reached out twice to customer service to ask about replacing the other 3 and I've rec'd no response from LL Bean. I'm willing to pay the difference and the shipping for the new ones, but no one is responding.
If you're thinking of getting these chairs, please spend a little more money on the all weather one. The wooden ones aren't worth it for the cost and hassle to have them fall apart less than a decade after buying them.

I splurged on two chairs and a side table several years ago. We took them in before winter from the start...they were stored in a dry basement. I've noticed rot on the leg bottoms over the last few years and we talked about trying to find some kind of plastic guard. We took them out rather late this summer and when I sat on one, one of the seat slats completely collapsed. We took a close look and both chairs have rotted slats, making them unusable. I'm so disappointed because they are so pretty and I appreciate that they aren't plastic.

áby AnnaDoug Paint peeling in stripsoff newly purchased chairs.
We have been fans of these Adirondack chairs for decades and have had several sets over the years. We purchased 2 of these chairs in May to replace older ones that were rotting after several years of use. Within a couple of weeks we noticed the white paint chipping off. We called customer service and received replacements though we still had to put in the effort of taking apart the defective ones and packaging them up. After less than a month and very little use as we were on vacation, our new replacement chairs are chipping worse than the first set. The paint is literally coming off in strips. When I asked customer service if others have had this issue they said no and yet I am seeing other complaints on line. We don't want to receive replacement chairs until the paint issue is resolved and fixed. It takes a lot of energy to put these together and take them apart to be sent back. Please LLBean look into the manufacturing aspect of these chairs and fix the paint problem. Let's hope the third time is a charm.

Have had 4 of these chairs for 7 or 8 years. They sit on an uncovered west facing deck in central Oregon (high desert). They are put in the garage for the winter, except this past year where they were left out. They have all held up beautifully. The paint on the yellow chair peeled and will require painting this year, but the others look like new; no fading and definitely no rot. They are well built and comfortable to sit on with or without a cushion. Highly recommend, at least for the type of environment we have them in

This is a replacement for a chair which lost some seat slats d/t rot. It was replaced free, and I was told it's made by a different manufacturer and of a better quality wood. I have 2 other LLBean Adirondack chairs which I've had for years with no problems. They're on our deck from spring thru late fall, and have held up beautifully. They fold up easily for storage, hold their color, and are very sturdy.

I have always had great success with LLBean products, and have been willing to pay more for them because of that, well this chaire is the exception to the rule. We purchased this about three years ago and after the first year, stored indoors for the winter, the wood began to rot. I treated the wood and painted the chair, however the chaire has deteriated due to rot every year . At this price I would expect better Quolity and would not recommend purchase.

When I bought two chairs several years ago there was no mention they couldn't be used outside. However, they were stored inside when not in use. After a couple of years, they got lost at the back of the garage. Just got them out for summer use and they are rotted. I have tried to take care of these chairs but they still rotted. Not a product you want to spend your money on.

I purchased 6 red chairs 6 years ago. I stored them in my basement every fall and brought them out every summer. Within 2 years they faded to a pinkish color and lost their sheen. By the 4th year they started to get punky and last fall they were completely rotted. I expected better from an LL Bean product and for the price I paid, a longer life span.

I got the wood stained version to put in a shady spot in the backyard on the grass. Within a year the gloss coating on the wood was peeling and within 2 years the wood was rotting where it came into contact with the ground. While this may last a while on a covered porch that stays dry, I would not recommend it for an unprotected location.

These were easy to assemble with just one socket wrench and the provided Allen wrench.
The packaging needs to be improved as there was too large and too many unrecyclable plastic bags inside the cartons.
