áby Mike1138 Disappointed in Charleston, SC
We purchased 2 folding wooden Adirondack chairs and folding side table in early 2012 to sit on our back patio. We enjoyed the chairs almost every night between March and October (except for August - it's just too hot)! They are comfortable, easy to store in the off season, and look great. Last week, while cleaning the chairs after the 2-week spring pollen season, I discovered significant rot on the vertical support where the brass hardware attaches to the seat, about one foot above the ground. The wood simply broke apart when I wiped it down with a damp sponge.
Although the furniture retained a nice appearance, a closer inspection revealed that both chairs and the table were structurally unsound due to wood rot around the metal hardware on the vertical supports.
Although we are loyal L.L.Bean customers, we are disappointed that we can no longer recommend this product to our friends, family, and colleagues due to its poor durability.

Rated 1 out of 5áby JMass Did not stand up to LLBean's usual quality. Rotted
Very disappointed in this purchase. I love LLBean's quality standards but these chairs don't live up to it. We bought two chairs a few years ago and they began to peel after a month and after one season, showed signs of rot even though they are used on a deck. We have friends that have had the same issue. Significant investment, wish we had ordered the all-weather.

Easy to assemble even for the mechanically challenged. The quality is excellent. I purchased these exact chairs in 1993 and had them for ten years. They were out all summer and only needed minor touch ups for winter storage. They were sold when I moved to an apartment. Now I'm in a house again and immediately ordered two chairs for my patio.

the chairs are great, easy to assemble, sturdy feeling. Color red is not a true red but a little orange. Ordered 3.

Don't bother with these redesigned chairs. I just returned 2 that were approximately 2 years old because the paint had peeled off and mold was growing on them. This is in stark contrast to 2 others that we have which are over 15 years old, look fantastic, and are used and stored in the same way. Clearly Bean has changed the paint, and certainly for the worse. The Bean employees at the Albany store told me they have received many of these chairs as returns. We exchanged them for the "all-weather" chairs. I will say Bean had their typically outstanding customer service on the exchange, no questions asked.

Very easy assembly. Folds easily for storage. Purchased a month ago for my new brick paver patio. They look great. Comfortable to sit on very sturdy, nice level wide arms to sit drinks on or relax your arms.
Heavy but very high quality. I also purchased seat cushions.

Recently purchased these chairs to enjoy on a new deck. To say they look great, are beyond comfortable and represent LLBean's quality standards is an understatement. The red finish really "pops" against the cedar deck. There's nothing better to relax in and enjoy a cold beverage while listening to Cardinals baseball.

We now have two of the LL Bean folding wooden Adirondack chairs and absolutely love them! Originally purchased the navy one and then another one in red. Also added comfy cushions to add even more of a relaxing feel. We have enjoyed being able to fold and store away for the winter.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Seacoastcustomer Adirondack Chair
Would strongly recommend that your wooden Adirondack Chair be replaced with Azek or some other similar composite material. The look and finish would be the same except for the unpainted version. I just returned a set of the chairs after 4 years of use and while the chairs themselves were still solid, the white paint had cracked and peeled and there were mushroom/mold growths everywhere. These were outside chairs, kept under a roof or some other cover about 75% of the time from April thru October in coastal New Hampshire. I looked at the All-Weather Adirondacks as replacements but the High Density Polyethylene material feels and looks too much like plastic so I bought 2 more wooden ones. Please think about a type of composite material for these chairs as they are classics and should be able to last longer in an outside environment. And, because I have a feeling that I?ll be returning these chairs in a few years, I?d like to replace them next time with something that lasts. BTW, I was prepared to spend the additional $100 per chair for the HDPE versions so I?m hoping that others will feel similarly if you offer a longer lasting item that doesn?t look and feel like a big-box store product. This is the first time I?ve had a problem with one of your products. I?ve been a customer for over 40 years and have never been dissatisfied with your service.
