Rated 5 out of 5 by BEARTOOTH SPOTS ON FABRIC
A few purchasers noted some of the lighter colored jackets seem to have dark spots or stains. I observed this on the two jackets I purchased, Upon close examination, the spots are caused by dark down close to the surface. I put both jackets in the dryer on the tumble dry setting to fluff them out and the spots disappeared.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeachLove My previous review listed the wrong size
The LL Bean algorithms don't allow edits to published reviews (please fix?), so here's another: Sizing: 5'7" 145 lbs, small chest, size SMALL.
All other review comments remain the same: I live in this jacket and adore it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BeachLove Warm, slim-fitting, stylish
All my previous down jackets have been boxy things, so I love this more fitted style. I live just south of San Francisco, near the beach, so I wear this pretty much year round. It's light, very warm, very good at repelling wind and light rain/heavy fog. It actually looks hip, in an outdoorsy way. I bought the black and am considering the red for a zap of color. Sizing: 5'7" 145 lbs, small chest, size medium.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 2inNewEngland love this jacket
My husband and I snowshoe and hike no matter what the weather so I bought this jacket for both of us(his men's is just as great) for our anniversary. We love them! They are soft, not too puffy and totally warm. It is so nice to not have to wear so many layers. We live in New England and this has been one cold winter, but with these jackets it was a joy to be outside. My husband even wears his skiing. While shopping the other day I had 3 ladies comment on my jacket and 1 even tried it on. I have the turquoise colored one but wanted a purple as well but they are all out. I think I'm going to try the hooded one in purple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by jelliestar Warm jacket
First let me address the "Warmer: -25*" elephant in the room: this rating is wildly optimistic. I cannot imagine how this jacket could be warm down to -25*F unless you were to use it for running. It's a jacket. It's a toasty warm, comfy jacket, but it's just a jacket so moderate your expectations.
That being said, this is an awesome jacket. I bought mine two years ago, and while the offered colors have changed, the style hasn't. My jacket has held up wonderfully. It's still puffy, cozy and warm. This isn't my primary winter coat - I live in Maine, so deep winter calls for something a bit more substantial - but it's great for early spring and late fall, and for visiting my family in NC for Christmas.
I'm 5'8" and approximately 125/130lbs, and the XS fits me well with room for a light layer underneath. I wish the sleeves were an inch or so longer, but that's a minor complaint. I love how lightweight this jacket is: it almost feels like I'm wearing a sweatshirt instead of a coat.
I went for a snowy 4 mile walk in this jacket yesterday wearing a long sleeve cotton t-shirt and a wool sweater underneath. It was 25*F. I was chilly if I stood still for too long in the shade, but very warm if I kept walking (not aerobically, exercise-y walking - just walking). I wouldn't realistically recommend this jacket as your only winter coat if you live in an area that has real winters, but if you want a light, warm jacket for those in-between times when a huge, heavy coat is just over-achieving, this jacket is a great option.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Ann PLEASE PROVIDE THIS JACKET IN PLUS SIZES
This is really a beautiful and warm jacket and crushes down to a reasonable size. My problem is women's XL doesn't fit me (I returned it), so I ordered mens XL. I've been wearing the mens XL but it really is to tight around the hips. I hate to return it but I think I'll have to and wait for LLBean to make this jacket in Women's PLUS sizes. Can someone from LLBean let me know if the Women's Plus size is in the future????

Rated 3 out of 5 by anniejn Not Very Warm!
I love this jacket, and I wear it all the time -- as long as the temperature is above freezing. I don't understand how LL Bean can say it's good down to 25 degrees below 0! Even my husband, who's much more cold hardy than I, doesn't wear his ultralight 850 down jacket when the temperature drops much below freezing. I do recommend this jacket for traveling, since it can be stuffed into one of its pockets to form a reasonably small package. It's ideal for plane travel during the winter from a cold departure point to a warm arrival point. However, if you want a warm jacket for below-freezing temperatures, this jacket isn't it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by peoriaoutdoorlady Warm and snazzy!
I have never had total strangers stop me on the street to tell me what a great jacket I am wearing. I think it must be the color but it gets noticed. And besides that it is warm and not bulky. I love it!

This is a very very light jacket in terms of weight. It seems so light that I can't believe it would actually be warm down to the temperature they say it would so I haven't tried wearing it outdoors in these very frigid temperatures for any length of time. It has been great for short walks from the car to whatever location. Just wish it had an easy to access upper outside pocket like the men's version does. The inside pocket is huge - too easy to have trouble finding something put in that pocket.

Rated 5 out of 5 by busymomwith2kiddos Really lightweight but super warm
Bought myself this coat and I love it. It feels so light but has kept me warm in northern New Hampshire. It is roomy enough for a big sweater or layers underneath. I am 5'5" and 110 pounds and usually wear a small. I ordered the small and it is plenty long enough in arms and roomy but not overly large. I wore it the other day when the wind was blowing and temps were in the negative and I was fine. You need to layer but the wind does not go through it. I would recommend it to a friend or anyone that hates being cold. This is a warm coat!!
