Rated 4 out of 5 by BfloGal Love these shoes!
I bought a pair at the store in the grey/plum, and once home, ordered another in the brown/green. They are comfy, yet look good enough for work or play. They are very lightweight, but give my feet the good support that they always need. My one complaint is the straps - as someone else mentioned, to get the shoes on, you need to undo the straps, which means take them out of the D ring, and then redo it - takes a bit of time. Still, if they were offered in other colors, I would buy more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by FleeceHound Wanted To Love Them, But Could Not
It pains me to return these shoes because they are so cute and versatile. But there is one design flaw that needs someone's attention. The straps that go across the instep are not elasticized so there is no stretch. I don't think I have a particularly high instep but I could not even fasten the velcro on the strap. The length of the velcro on the strap is very stingy so it has to be a perfect fit. I understand these are not slip-ons and I would have been fine having to undo the straps every day to put them on, but there was no way.
LL Bean suggests you order a half-size down and I did, even though I am a perfect 10. But I'm not sure the 10 would have even worked for me.
Finally I found the toe box to be just a tad cramped. I don't typically have toe box issues.
Really wanted this shoe to work for me but it wasn't to be!

Rated 2 out of 5 by LLBeanFan34 Surprisingly Uncomfortable
Having been a loyal L.L. Bean customer for years, I have to say this is the first item I have purchased that was a total dud. The design is terrible. The shoe is terribly uncomfortable and awkward, and the straps are unrealistically short. If you are wearing these shoes without socks, be prepared for some serious blisters and arch pain after about 2 hours of wear. I don't recommend wearing these on a long walk, etc.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Inglewyn Blisters every time!
When I first put these shoes on, they sure seem comfortable, but every time I wear them I end up with blisters. I've tried everything - socks, no socks, dress socks, washing the shoes, stretching them, ... the only thing that works is wearing padded band-aids on my heels, and how practical (or cute) is that?
I'm stubborn and I love LL Bean products so I've been trying too hard to love these shoes; now I've held onto them for so long and worn them so much that I don't think it's right to return them. What a disappointing, uncomfortable waste of money.
If you buy a pair and find them uncomfortable, don't be stubborn - return them!

Rated 2 out of 5 by ShoeEnthusiast Strap too short
I tried these in my usual size 9 and in 9 1/2, although the shoes fit comfortably I was unable to close the straps. They were too short for my high instep. I unfortunately had to return them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by leening Nice look if you have extra time
I like these shoes and with my extra wide feet these are shoes that even fit. I have the plum ones. The reason I do not wear them as often as I might is that the tiny straps need to be almost all the way out to put on. Then if the strap comes out too far it must be realigned thru the grommet. A pain when making a fast exit. This is probably just my problem because of wide feet but if the strap were a bit longer with a bit more velcro it could be customized for individual feet and not come out of the holder as often.

Rated 4 out of 5 by AKNJ Fun shoes, patience required for breaking them in
I bought two pairs of these, one in the brown with lime green trim and the other the black/gray with purple trim. Many reviews say the toe box runs wide--it does--but it seems it should since this shoe is basically a dressier sneaker and in my experience, sneakers of any brand have wide toe boxes and this is no different. Generally, I wear a size 7, medium width, however, in LLBean footwear, I almost always need the 6 1/2. So, though the advice on the site tends toward ordering a half size smaller, I stuck to my usual LLBean size of 6 1/2. I was glad I did because although the toe box is wide, my toes do hit close to the end of the shoe. Had I bought another half size smaller, the shoe would have been too short. So if you are familiar with LLBean footwear and know how this brand fits you, your usual LLBean size should fit you, in my opinion. Some have said the shoe feels stiff and not flexible, this is true, but "good things come to those who wait." You must take the time to break these in before you will be happy with them. Years ago I worked in a shoe store as a college student and was taught by the old shoe salesmen that you can expedite the breaking in process on some shoes by bending them to soften the toe box and the heel area. These shoes are textile and rubber , not stiff leather, so I flexed them in half and bent in the heel area to soften it up. I wear them with light to medium socks.
I wore them a day or so around the house before venturing out with them and they are now softened sufficiently that I forget I have them on. I admit my initial reaction to them on my feet was, "uh-oh, I feel a store return coming on." But after physically breaking both pairs in as I have described, I am happy I have them and enjoy wearing them. They make a great transitional shoe, after summer sandals and before winter boots. The brown and black colors especially lend themselves to Autumn. I did not buy the light silver pair as I felt that color would be best for spring/summer and I do not have a need for that as I have that color already in another brand but similar style. So if you think you can be patient with these, you may want to give them a try.

These are cute, and the fit is great for my standard size 9 feet. They are extremely comfy, and although light weight, give my feet great support. The only downside is the straps - a bit of stretch would mean that they wouldn't need to be undone each time they were slipped on and off. Still, I'm ordering another pair today!

Rated 2 out of 5 by galin Would cause heel blisters
I bought these cute shoes for a trip to Maine, but I never ended up actually bringing them because just by wearing them around the house for a couple of hours, I knew that they would cause blisters on the back of my heel. My intention had been to wear them without socks, and that just wasn't going to be possible. They were extremely stiff, and I had to return them.

These shoes are really cute and fit me well--the only problemI found was that the soles are not soft enough. They made my knees ache so I bought some soft innersoles which helped a lot.I do feel that that more cushioning inside would help solve the problem..
