These mid-weight long underwear pants are soft and warm. Roomy through the seat which I appreciate -- I don't like binding clothing. Fit well under slacks and provide warmth outdoors without being too warm inside. I ordered size small (I wear size 6-8 slacks) and they are true to size. Really appreciate the petite length!

I was skeptical about synthetic leggings but I'm so glad I gave these a try! After taking them out of the box I was also skeptical that these would provide any warmth, being so thin. But I'm very pleased with them and it almost seems that they warm up as you do! I mainly wear them for walking dogs and outdoor training and on very cold days I can also wear them to work under my jeans. After reading the reviews about ordering a size down I tried a Medium Petite and they fit perfectly. I am 5'4", 150lb, and my body shape is pretty much like an egg with sticks for legs, if that's any help. :)

First thank you everyone for your reviews and the recommendation to order a size smaller. My pants arrived last night during a wind chill advisory in Southern Maryland. This morning we were at a negative temp with the wind chill. As I walked my Corgi before sunrise, my legs were toasty warm. I'm sitting at work with my pants under my jeans. These will be perfect under my rain pants. It was a little tough getting my jeans on over the base layer. It isn't as smooth and silky as my other budget thermal underwear. I will get a lot of wear out of them and plan to order another pair.
I am just under 5ft 3 and require a petite. Thank you LL Bean for offering them in a petite. PERFECT FIT once I ordered a size down. FYI, I currently sit between a LL Bean Petite 10 and 8 - so the small did work.

Disappointed in the fit of these midweight base layer pants. I ordered two & was looking forward to having them for the winter months ahead. I'm 5 ft tall, 115 lbs. and ordered the XS Petite. Sadly, they were not only very loose in the leg, making them unsuitable for wearing under pants, but also much too long. Since they do not come any smaller, I guess I'm out of luck.
If you are interested in using them as PJ's, they might work.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Rosebudoh Midweight? More Like No Weight!
Very disappointed with this item. Selected midweight because I wanted something lighter than heavy weight but enough to keep me warm when walking in Cleveland, OH winter weather. These pants are so flimsy and loose there is no cling at all. I ordered XS based on previous reviews and the waistband is still too large to stay up around my waist. I really wanted the Expedition weight pants but they were not available when I placed my order (the Expedition weight top is perfect). Hoping that I can order a pair of those as a replacement.

The Blue Jay color is gorgeous. I am 63 years old and just under 5 feet tall and weigh about 120 pounds and the Petite Medium fits comfortably--I have somewhat long legs for my size so I don't have to roll these pants up too much and the fit is good being not too tight or loose. Also, the poly fabric is much more practical and durable than silk that only lasts about 2 years with regular washing and wear; and the poly fab is comfortable and breathable. Love these. Only wish is that they were also available in white or beige.

I got these originally as a size medium without referring to the size chart. They were extremely large. I am 5'6'' and 135 lbs with a 27'' waist. I returned them and got a size extra small. These fit great now. The legs are tight, which is how I wanted them, but the stomach area and waste are a bit to loose still. I would definitely order a size or two down. They are really comfortable and soft. I wore them today for a three mile run in 15 degree weather and was a great temperature. I could feel the cold but wasn't cold myself. They'd be great as a layer in colder weather. The only reason I detracted a star was because they fall down slightly as you run.

Just ordered a second pair i like them so much. I am 5'6 and 149lbs i read the reviews and decided to order a small. They fit perfect and wash and dry great. They will be my winter pj's because of the comfort and they look good with a long shirt over them for day or night.

I purchased these pants with the matching top for a fall trip to Iceland. I wore them for a very chilly glacial river rafting trip and for several hikes in cold, rainy, windy weather. WONDERFUL warmth! Since my return I have worn them for warmth on hiking trails in the Smoky Mountains when there was still snow and ice around us. They have washed and dried well and will remain a favorite as winter has descended upon us so early.

The fabric is great. The construction is great. Both the top and the bottoms will keep you nice and warm, sort of. I am 5'9". I ordered the proper size. Everything fits just fine around but everything is too short. The waist pulls down when I bend over to lift a shovel full of snow. Unless I wear extra long socks, there is a band of exposed flesh between the tops of my socks and the bottoms of my legs. The sleeves of the top are "extra long" with a hole for your thumb. Where it not for this feature, the sleeves would be WAY too short. Because of the extra sleeve length, the sleeves are OK but I will never be able to get my thumb into that hole that sits at the middle of my wrist.
If you are average or short, this base layer will be wonderful for you. If you are tall, look elsewhere. It is frustrating that the men's version of this product is available in "tall". Do women really only come in average and short heights?
