Rated 5 out of 5 by VikiTikiTaco Perfect for Chilly Spring Days!
This is a wonderful, light-weight coat for chilly spring days. It's not too hot, but warm enough. And perfect if it's windy out. The hood comes in real handy too. Seems it would be rain proof, at least good enough to run into the store and not get soaked. Love it! If I had any suggestions to make it better, it would be to add snaps so you don't have to fuss with the zipper if you're in a hurry.

Very pleased - good at keeping you dry. Has inside cord that you can adjust to fit more snugly. Light lining to keep you warm. Two side zip pockets. Would recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by MaritimeCanadian Nice Jacket, but Caution about Sizing
One of the things I like best about online shopping at LL Bean is the accuracy of the sizing. I am a fairly slim, not-busty 5'9" and almost ALWAYS fit perfectly into a Medium. My dozens of LL Bean shirts and sweaters are all Medium. So when I ordered this Medium jacket I was very surprised to find the arms a bit too short and, worse, the upper body/back uncomfortably tight, even without a sweater underneath. However I liked the styling and loved the blue colour, so exchanged it for a Large - MUCH better fit, although the body is a bit longer than necessary (however this may not be a bad thing)! So my advice is to order a size larger than you think you'll need. Better still, LL Bean should adjust the product or its sizing classification for the product to avoid this complaint from other customers.

Rated 2 out of 5 by heleninalexandria feels like wearing a shag rug
I desperately needed a lighter weight parka after losing my old one. This is not the thing. It's lighter weight in terms of warmth, but weight-wise, it's heavy, and the pile lining somehow makes me feel like I'm wearing a shag rug. Plus the size creep - I've always worn medium in coats from Bean, but I swim in this one, even with layering a fleece or sweater under it. Plus it's shapeless, even with a waist drawstring, and there's no adjustment for the elastic-edged hood.. What's to like? I guess that at least it's medium warmth and it was in stock in February when not a lot is there to choose from..

Rated 5 out of 5 by WoheloWaterWitch Perfect between-seasons jacket/coat
LOVE this jacket -- or is it a coat?? Happily, it serves as both, and it is great. Soft and comfortable lining, without being bulky and hot. Also really like the way the hood (when needed) is slightly snug around my face, but without having all those strings dangling down that have to be dealt with.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NotBlue Not what I though it would be
I returned the jacket because I was expecting it to be a deeper royal blue color like illustrated in the catalog. Also, the outer fabric was too noisy for me. The inside fabric was soft and comfortable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by MogMog Designed to cover big hips!
I ordered a Petite Large in part because very few of these parkas were available in any other sizes, and in part because I wanted it to zip closed nicely over my 40" chest.
I am 5'2, 150 pounds with narrow back & shoulder, very large bust, short waist. 40-33-44 measurements.
The parka was able to zip closed over my chest, as desired. It doesn't look very good though, because the sleeves seem designed to fit much thicker arms (even accounting for layers and sweaters in winter). And the bottom hem circumference is HUGE.
I live in San Diego and bought the parka to take to Wellington, New Zealand which is renowned for being extremely windy. The weather will be between 65 and 75 degrees, so a big deal winter coat would be too much and this seemed the best compromise. I'm afraid the bottom hem will let in all the drafts...!

Rated 2 out of 5 by HappyBeanCustomer58 Disappointed
I hesitated to purchase this jacket because of some negative reviews, but I wanted to make my own decision. Sure enough, the zipper was difficult to operate, as many reviewers stated. Also, I initially liked the soft lining but as I gently ran my fingers over it I noticed a bit of pilling which I felt would worsen with wear. The colors are pretty and the jacket looks well on. It's a nice weight for early spring. However, since I don't want to deal with ongoing zipper battles, I am returning it.
