Rated 1 out of 5 by grannywarbucks liked my old one
The fabric of this jacket was a huge disappointment especially compared to the current one I own. Granted the one I love has to be at least 8 years old but I was expecting the same great fabric for this purchase.
I feel like I am wearing a chamois cloth I use on my car and not in a good way.
I am also not fond of the white color lining the pockets. Mine are black which are more discreet and don't stick out like a sore thumb.
My original jacket is a petite and I didn't see that size offered.
Even tho this jacket got lots of good remarks, personally I think it missed the mark.
Please give it another try LLBean!

Comes out of the dryer looking good and hasn't shrunk. The teal is very pretty, not too pastel-y. It's warm but not suffocating and is a good windbreaker.

Unfortunately, I lost one of my two Wind Challenger Fleeces from 2012. They were both in wonderful condition, fit me fine and would have lasted for many more years, I'm sure. I couldn't replace the beautiful purple so I chose the plum wine. First problem: the color isn't really plum or wine in my view, but worse is that the garment measurements have changed. My 2012 model fits well. The 2016 has an additional 4 inches around the chest, the sleeves are longer, and the garment itself is longer. (Both are Misses Medium, which is my size, or at least it always has been.) In addition, the hem was not perfect, so I returned the Medium and after a phone check on the garment measurements, ordered a Small. Sadly, it doesn't fit right either. I'm pretty sure I'll keep it, but I haven't decided yet. It's so sad when a perfect, high-priced garment is changed.

I had one of these wind-bloc jackets but lost it at the airport in Phoenix. I don't remember what size I had, so I have been ordering a larger size, then yet another larger size. This is to accomodate wearing a thick wool sweater under the wind-bloc jacket. I find this type of layering is better for weather not cold enough for a really heavy warm parka but not warm enough for just a layer of a wool sweater or wind-bloc jacket alone.
This is a very hard-wearing jacket and just love it enough to buy one for every member of my family, hooded and non-hooded.

This Jacket is light, warm and breaks the wind. I have worn this jacket for several years around town and on my Harley with a hoody underneath it. I recently purchased this Fleece for my wife and she loves it too. Great Buy!!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by CommuterGranny Shrinks! Disappointing
I'm 5'7" and 135 lbs, and I usually wear a Medium in LL Bean jackets. I appear tall, thin, and not-at-all buxom. Although this is advertised as "Relaxed Fit," I found the Medium Misses (Burgundy) to be very fitted. If I stood up straight and almost held my breath, I could zip it. I have long arms; the arms were nice and long. I think it's over-priced, and I dislike the white open-weave pocket linings which show. They look like a man's old-fashioned long-johns. I like the color. I wanted to be optimistic. The fabric is a flat fleece, somewhat stiff, but I felt that it would keep out some cold winds, and it did. (I'd tried the regular fleece jackets, and they were boxy and looked like they'd been made for a 4-H class.) Big problem: I just washed it as suggested (cool water, cool dry, remove promptly), and it shrunk at least an inch everywhere. I wore it today to drive to work, hoping it might loosen up, but it was too tight across my back, the arms are now too short, and the material didn't loosen up at all. I'm very disappointed that it shrunk, and I'm returning it.

Not as warm as I expected and wind goes through it. Will not keep you warm with additional layers under it.Recommend for warmer weather jacket.

This jacket did not live up to my previous experiences with LL Bean fleece jackets. I usually wear a large but had to exchange it for an Xlarge as it was too narrow across shoulders and tight in the arms over a winter shirt. The fabric did not in anyway resemble warm, fluffy fleece but was more of a flat velour. The jacket was not warm enough to wear on a 40 to 50 degree day, and for me, it didn't cut the feel of the wind. In the past, I have worn fleece jackets on days in the low 30 degree range. I wanted to like this jacket because it is a great color, but I don't need another jacket to wear on "warmer" days. I am returning this jacket and will have to research another jacket to purchase.

I bought this jacket to wear during our week at Disney World during Christmas break, it was perfect for evenings when it cooled down. I loved that it was not bulky. I am 5' 1" @145lbs and bought a small. Perfect fit!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Pallykin Love the jacket; Plum Wine is actually dark pink
This is my second Wind Challenger Fleece Jacket. It is a fantastic product and is my go to jacket on the edges of the cold weather season here in Boston. It even gets used on very windy cool days sailing on the ocean in the summer and fall. My rating of this jacket is based on my prior experience with this product, as the newly purchased jacket has not been worn.
I decided to replace my jacket as the old one was looking tired, and also it is too large. I was aware that L.L. Bean sizing is now smaller, and it worked out that the same size in the current version is a good fit, while my old one is about 4 inches too big around the hips, the sleeves are too long, and it is generally too large overall.
It took me a while to decide to return this jacket based on the color. It looks like it's burgundy in the picture on the website, but in reality it is a dark pink, close to the color of raspberries. It's just not a very grown up color. I would wear a sweater or a shirt in this shade, but I prefer a more neutral color in a jacket that I wear every day. I'd also like to be able to match a scarf to this, and the dark pink would pose a challenge. I'm exchanging this for a black one.
I should mention that this particular jacket has puckered stitching adjacent to the front zipper which is another reason for the return. But I would be exchanging it for black even if this was not an issue.
