How to Break Down Your Tent

No instructions? No problem! Mackenzie's here to walk you through the easy steps to break down and pack most camping tents.

3 Min. Watch | Camping

Step 1. Clean out and zip up your tent.

Don't forget to check pockets for things like keys or glasses.

Step 2. Remove the fly.

Let it dry! Putting a tent away wet is one of the most damaging things you can do to the material.

Step 3. Remove and bag the poles.

Go easy on the bungees or they'll start to lose their stretch.

Step 4. Remove and bag the stakes.

Add the stake bag into the bag with your poles.

Step 5. Roll everything up.

Fold your tent and fly to the same length as your pole bag to ensure that everything will fit in your storage bag.

Step 6. Pack everything away.

If you had to pack anything away wet, make sure to take it back out to dry as soon as you get home. Don't forget to pack up your footprint, too.
