Rated 3 out of 5 by BeanFan548 Stiff Boots
I didn't ever get out the door with these boots, so I can't speak to how warm they are. They claim to withstand -40 degree temps, and from looking at the thickness of them I would believe it. However, they are so stiff that they were incredibly uncomfortable. I tried them on and walked around the house a bit. I couldn't bend my toes or my ankles. I sent them back.

LL Bean is one of my favorite companies. I am sad to say I am sending back my second pair of these boots because they just do not fit me. I normally order a size 81/2 in boots and, as instructed by the website, ordered the 9. It was way to big! So, I ordered the 8. It was too small. These boots are well made, so I recommend them certainly if you can fit into them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by nmstan a good snow boot
I love the snow boot I just purchased. I went up the half size and it fits fine. They are comfortable, warm and have good traction. Not bad looking either... Glad I finally purchased a quality boot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Susanne83 Lightweight and comfortable
Was looking for a solid pair of winter boots, and these are great. They are light weight but also I anticipate they will be very warm in the cold. They are made very well and I know they will keep my feet dry, compared to past boots I have had. I am very pleased with my purchase!

Rated 1 out of 5 by GGLLBeanShopper Too Snug in the Ankle
I bought these boots because I loved the LL Bean boots that I bought 10 years ago. The current selection was limited for cold weather, snow shoveling boots so I bought these in spite of reading a review that said they were hard to walk in because of stiffness of the leather over the ankle. Unfortunately I experienced the same problem and had to walk like Frankenstein to make forward progress. Thanks to LL Bean for their easy and fast return system.

I really like these warm boots. I don't like the heaviness or the stiffness of the boot, but that comes with the territory of boots, which I don't like wearing anyways.

This is a well constructed boot. not too heavy, ( like a competitors boot). not too light. easy on and off. I feel it fits a little snug, but I think it will stretch some. I have been looking for a waterproof and warm boot, that is well constructed and this is it. I purchased a somewhat similar boot from LL bean several years ago and it held up for at least 15 years. I think this boot will do the same. Great Quality!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by capecodRN heavy, hard to walk in-impossible to drive in
These boot are warm and dry but if you are doing anything but playing in the snow, think twice. They are very heavy and uncomfortably rigid - the fit in the ankle area is so loose my feet felt like they were swimming in them. They are hard to walk in because there is no give to them and they are IMPOSSIBLE/UNSAFE to drive in because they are so stiff and heavy. The sole is so thick and inflexible that it's tough to feel the gas/brake pedals Unfortunately, they had to go back . Hats off to LL Bean though because I bought these on line in December of 2013 and just returned them last week at a retail shop- no questions asked and very friendly, professional customer service at the Mansfield Ma store .I have the zip up shearling lined boots and love them. I plan on picking up a pair of the 10" shearling lined lace ups when the time comes because I have discovered that I prefer the fit, feel and comfort of the older design .

Bought these for next winter, but we had a six-inch dumping two days after the Snow Boots arrived, so I tried them out. Was pleased at the warmth and dryness. Since this was a wet, heavy snow, there was definitely a chance for wet feet. Not with these. Of course the temps were in the mid twenties so it wasn't a real test of the advertised 20 to 45 below zero comfort zone. Probably have to wait until next year to check that out, but living in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, you can never tell. After all it's April 12, and we still have three feet of snow in the back yard!

Rated 2 out of 5 by gormetshopper not great fit, heavy
The boots are very warm, but heel does not fit snugly and the tongue of the boot is very stiff, actually cut my leg through the socks. I thought it would relax with frequent usage, but unfortunately stayed the same. I usually love LL Bean products; this is my 1st bad experience, but would not recommend them.
