Always wanted to know who was LL Bean. And what LL Bean was. Very detailed stories about the man and his Main hunting shoe . Necessity is the mother of all invention . As you travel from the Main woods to the LL Bean store and be satisfied with the quality products that came from LL . And if not ! He made it right. Follow the growth of the company through its employees and consumers. Love the letters received by many happy customers.

I was thrilled to receive this wonderful book a few months ago! The contents are fascinating and so well illustrated. A beautifully bound book,and the cover is so eye-catching. The various chapters are different, contain lovely photographs,and the "24 hour account" of living activities is marvelous. I love it all and this book is surely a testament to the integrity and character and wonder of L.L.Bean. I am so in awe of this store and all it has brought to me in the last so many years! The joy I have felt when a package arrives is beyond words! This prize book and all the chapters/illustrations and writings is a masterpiece. I am grateful to L.L.Bean,the wonderful personnel who answer the phone,take my orders` and the product room staff as well.You are all splendid human beings! I am such a fan of L.L.Bean and all that it stands for as well. You are appreciated by many,many individuals. Bravo!

I truly treasure this book. The beautifully illustrated pictures allow one to feel the life of simpler times. The cover is simple, but textured and rich looking. It is a book to be past down through the ages. Thanks for sharing, L.L.Bean.

A true American story if ever there was one! How an orphaned young man began and built an iconic Company, never losing sight of what matters: the customer. Because of the vision of its founder, the personal attention to service, and the dedication and devotion of its employees, L.L. Bean has a vast and devoted worldwide following. I am proud to be a 'Beaner', and reading this delightful book took me back to my teenage 'preppy' years growing up in MA. I can still remember getting my Norwegian sweater, and I frequently wear my black/red reversible down vest, both from the 1980s. I continue to wear Bean almost every day, and will be a loyal customer for life!

I loved everything about this book; but was
disappointed not to find the poem by Mr.
Charles Gray, "My L.L. Bean Boots". It is
so appropriate and I think should have been featured, possibly at the very begin-
ning of the book! I have it framed above
our fireplace insert in our "country"
living room here in West Virginia. The book
is a wonderful read of L.L.'s life and a real
coffee table "keeper". My company can't
put it down! Thank you for this in-depth and informative account of
such an amazing man. I think L.L.
would have approved!

I received this book from LL Bean as a gift. I have read it cover to cover many times already!! It does an amazing job at capturing what makes LL Bean the absolute best retailer on the planet. The quality of the book is awesome. I have it proudly displayed on my coffee table for all of my guests to see. I am proud to be an LL Bean "junkie". This book gave me insight to a company that I discovered by accident over 30 years ago when a co-worker ordered a pair of the uninsulated boots in the wrong size. This was my first LL Bean purchase, but certainly not my last and I still have these boots 30 years later!! If you have ever bought anything from LL bean you should pick up a copy of this book. It will inspire you and make you realize that great companies are driven by great ideas that at their core are really simple. Give the best service that is possible and always stand behind your product!!! This is why I continue to shop at LL Bean. I truly enjoyed reading this book and learning many things about the history of my favorite place to shop!! Looking forward to see what the next 100 years brings!!! thanks so very much, a customer for life!!!

I bought this is as a gift. The cover of the book is made to resemble the original boat and tote. The book is filled with so much history of beans and has tons of photos. The book is a great gift for anyone, especially anyone who has ever shopped at LL Bean..
