I just bought this shirt & I love it. It is so soft & comfortable. I could not believe how soft it was. It is the perfect go with jeans shirt or weekend shirt. I ordered some flannels too and it goes perfect with them. I will be wearing these around the house or just to run out. Great buy.

Love the softness and the versatility for layering. The fabric still looks great after several washings. I didn't notice shrinkage (got 1x; I'm usually a 1x/2x borderline; sleeves are snug but that's okay for how I wear it). Would love to see this in more dark colors; got it in navy and would love some similar options. It was a lot of money for a basic casual shirt for me, but this is a winner and well worth it.

I got this in lilac, which turned out to be even more beautiful in real life than I'd hoped for. Thanks to other reviews about how much it shrinks, instead of ordering my usual petite size, I ordered a Misses, which was a little long when new but shrank to the perfect length after first washing. Plus, the fabric then acquired more of a fluffy, nappy texture that makes it particularly nice for cool weather.
I had ordered one of these a couple of years ago when they were using a very thin material that disappointed me; I returned it. This one's a keeper.

The material is soft, which I like. However, after one wash and NOT putting it in the dryer, it shrunk terribly in the length. I can't even wear it as a base layer because the bottom now sits just below my bust. Just terrible.

Two years ago you had the most wonderful cotton waffle henleys. My daughter got 2 of them. So this year I wanted a couple for myself. They are nothing like they used to be. They were thicker and all cotton. This year they are thin and stretchy with lycra. It doesn't make them keep their shape; they stretch out of shape. I'm so disappointed in this shirt. I would love to order your old stock! I also had to order a size larger because they are so fitted which makes it fit strange. You had it just perfect a couple of years ago, don't know about last year. They were gray with blue flowers, and cream with pink flowers. All the new things have defeated the purpose of this shirt.

I have been an L.L. Bean customer for many years and have found that the sizing on much of the clothing has gotten more and more generous. I am 5"7', 132 lb, with a fairly trim, athletic build and used to consistently wear a Misses regular size medium, or 10-12. Lately, I have begun ordering a small or size 8, especially in shirts or items worn close to the body. I ordered a Misses regular small, dark raspberry heather in this henley and liked it so much that I ordered the gray heather and flag blue shirts also. The sleeves are very long and I sometimes double back the ribbed cuffs, which makes them just perfect for me. The center back length of the shirt is 25"-26" and the front goes to at least 8- 9 " below my waist, so there is plenty of shirt to tuck in. Since I do not own a dryer, I have found no problem with shrinkage with any of the shirts after laundering. I usually wear the shirt with the top two buttons undone, which, with the spandex, gives the area across the shoulders a bit more room to stretch, which is the only area where a size small is sometimes a bit tight. I highly recommend this warm and lovely shirt!

I own two of these shirts, both were a Christmas gift from my parents this year. I live in Northern New York on Lake Ontario (yes, the state really does have people living in it north of Syracuse) and most of my winter wardrobe is from LL Bean because after November 1, you need it. I noticed these on the website about September and asked for them. They are very warm and comfortable, even with the long sleeve cuff that I normally don't care for. I wear these either to sleep in if it is well below zero at night, or underneath the fleece-lined flannel shirts during the day. I'm wearing the lavender one as I type this, in fact. I will absolutely buy more of these in other colors because they are very, very comfortable.
That said, don't buy them for fashion, because they aren't fashionable. They are, like most of what LL Bean sells, practical. That's the point of the company, in my opinion. It's why I wear them layered. The cotton does shrink, and I add my voice to those asking for a "tall" version. The shirt started out at my hips and is now about level with my mid-waist jeans. I don't care, because I don't wear it on its own, but I can absolutely see how someone else would object. I wash them in cool water but dry them in warm air in the dryer, so I won't be sending them back because in this case, the shrinkage is due to me not caring all that much about the washing directions. The purpose of the shirt is to keep my torso warm, and it does that.
A quality garment that will keep you warm and last a long time, so long as you don't mind it ultimately resting at about the top of your hip bones, not the bottom. The quality of the shirt and its ability to keep you warm is not affected by the shrinkage. That said, yes, a "tall" version is absolutely in order. LL Bean, please take note.

These are wonderful shirts for layering. I have 4 of them now in large which is my normal size in L.L.Bean tops. I would never be able to wear only this shirt in the winter. I am always cold and I'm layering all the time here in Indiana. I wear them mostly under the fleece lined flannel shirts from L.L.Bean. They work great for me under those shirts, and on a really cold day, I wear them under the jersey lined chamois shirts (which I absolutely love for their warmth) also from L.L.Bean. I've read so many reviews about shrinkage. Mine shrank just a tad when washed and dried but I NEVER leave these in the dryer for longer than 10-15 minutes with a full load in the dryer. They will most certainly shrink in length if you do. I take them out of the dryer and hang dry them the rest of the way. If I see that they are a bit shorter, I put them on the hanger still damp and give them a little tug from the bottom and that works for me. It would be nice if nothing shrank when we washed and dried everything in the dryer but that isn't always the case. I like these well enough to deal with the situation. Thanks. L.L.Bean! I know I will get a lot of wear out of these.

I bought almost every color to wear alone and under Bean's flannel shirts in small. They are soft, warm and not too bulky to wear as a base layer and not too thin to wear alone. After many, many washings (at least 10) there is slight shrinkage in sleeve and body length, but not enough to make a big difference in fit for me. I wash them in warm and dry on regular cycle. I'm going to buy a couple more today.
