This is a GREAT sweater - warm, attractive, nicely made. Bought first one as a gift for my son - I liked it so much I bought one for myself. Liked that one so much I bought a second. You won't be disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rustedthrough Skeptical of fit at first, now my favorite sweater
When this sweater first arrived, the details were perfect but the fit seemed too snug/ skinny/ hipster for my taste. Since I wanted it primarily for layering in these MI winter days, I thought I'd give it a try anyway.
Within an hour two of wearing it with the sleeves pushed up, the sleeves developed a comfortably loose but still trim shape. The gut and chest soon followed suit. By hour four, I was convinced that it fit well, and as soon as I got it out in public the complements began. I'm 6' tall, and wear a 44 regular suit jacket, the large fits beautifully (after the initial break- in), even down to length of the rolled sleeves.
This is the only non- military- surplus sweater I have owned with elbow and shoulder patches that actually cover the wear areas, even with the sleeves pushed up. The patches on this one don't just serve as decoration, they actually work.
This sweater is warm, and breathable. It is comparable in softness and hand to the ribbed part of Bean's rag wool socks. It works well in the cold with a wind shell or jacket over it, and well indoors over a t- shirt (in February). The briar color has twill patches about the same color as a pair of chinos, not as brown as canvas work pants.
I'll order another one, or two, in another color when I get my tax return.

This is easily the best sweater I've ever owned. It's so nice and warm I went out and bought 3 (Navy, Black, and Green). Hands down the warmest piece of apparel I own. It runs a touch on the big side, but I think it helps compliment the sharp looks of the sweater. I'll pair this with some fleece lined pants on the coldest days of the year (Today is -3F) and won't be adversely effected by the cold at all.

Well, this is just a one-of-a-kind item. As a kid, I just thought the sleeve an shoulder patches were IT. And I still do. Not sure if it's a fashion statement, but if you like the look, who cares?
Oh, and this sweater will keep you warm! If you're gonna be indoors, bear that in mind.
Also, I like the trimmer fit. I'm 5' 9'' and 170 pounds. I workout some, but I'm not a fanatic, and it works well for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MrsWeasley Disappointed in the color; very misleading
We are very disappointed in the color of the sweater. We ordered Deep Woods Green Heather, and there is nothing green about the sweater whatsoever. It is an unattractive shade of brown. The description and even picture are misleading. They should re-name the color of this item. We have asked several people what color they would say the sweater is and every single person has replied "brown. " Not one person has thought the sweater looks green at all.

I am 6'3'' and about 240 lb. Deep woods green model was almost completely darker brown with hardly a hint of dark green. Surprising but not a big deal. Ordered tall. The tall model was at least 4'' too long. Regular would have probably been a better choice. Also, do not count on it shrinking with washing -- was tool lazy to return and quite certain that it would shrink if washed in hot water but to my surprise it did not shrink much at all. The wool is not as tightly wowed as the military models. Overall, not bad for the price but would gladly pay more for a more tightly wowed wool resembling the original military models.

I had been watching this sweater for a while on LL Bean. I finally decided to purchase this sweater when my wife and I decided to go to Europe for Christmas vacation. I was in the Democratic Republic of Congo at the time so I had LL Bean ship to Europe for me and boy was it worth it.
This sweater was warm enough to the point that I was sweating indoors while it was under a light jacket. It does give you a rather dashing look. My wife really likes the way it looks on me and said I NEED to buy it to two other colors.
I'm 5'10" 198 lbs, athletic build and fits well. I've worn this on top of wool base layer and t-shirt with a medium to light jacket and felt great.

I bought two of these sweaters in a brownish color for my husband for work to wear over his uniform a few years ago. He works outside every day, and does heavy activity 10-12 hours a day. The sweaters are absolutely the Best!! They are rugged, warm, neat looking, and stand up to the fall and winter weather here in the Northeast. They launder very well, and I line dry them. They still look new! He loves every aspect of them! The guys at work even ask him where he gets them!l
