I own many bean boots but my 8" is in need of replacement. As always, I am happy with them. I wear a 7.5-8 shoe but bean boots do not have half sizes. I ordered both a 7 & 8 to see which worked. LL Bean reps were right when they suggested I order down versus up. I am sending the 8 back & keeping the 7. Thank you LL Bean! You make a wonderful product right here in the USA! Great customer service and return policy too!!

by Lebenny "All Season" Shoe with Pros and Cons
I'm still on the fence about this shoe so am giving it 3 stars. It's very basic, no frills, and has a classic look. These boots are great for wet mild winter days and spring and fall. They are waterproof and will keep your feet dry unless you jump in deep water. However, they are not the most comfortable shoe, which is their biggest drawback. They also won't keep your feet warm for extended periods in frigid temperatures. Sizing could be a problem if you have small feet as these run large and the attached tongue can make slipping them on and off a challenge.
Quick assessment of pros/cons:
-"All Season" shoe; can be worn year-round... if you live in a mild climate or have a nice thick pair of socks and don't spend hours out of doors in the winter
-Classic look, though I initially found them to be a bit ugly. Much prefer the look of the Navy color to the greenish brown that was available in store
-LL Bean return policy is phenomenal if you don't like these
-Zero insulation; see above 'all season pro'. Bought these in winter and don't think they are good for stomping around in snow or cold for extended periods of time. Much preferred my LL Bean Snow boots.
-Runs large and size 6 is smallest option. Forget about these if you wear anything smaller than a 6 normally.
-Initially tight and can be hard to get on (especially with thick socks) but this improves with wear
ELABORATION ON ABOVE POINTS:
I bought these boots as a replacement to an old pair of actual snow boots I owned for many years but that bit the dust after 6 years of non-use in Florida. Upon moving back North, the rubber on my snow boots cracked, mainly due to their exposure to extreme temperatures between FL and MD. LL Bean was awesome about taking the busted boots back, which was really wonderful. Unfortunately, the in-store options for replacement boots were really a big let down. There weren't any remaining snow boots as it was late in the season (February) and the store carried only 2 options for women's bean boots (these and the 10" Sherling-lined option) in only one color (greenish brown for these and dark brown for the 10" Sherling). I found this surprising given the store's size and location in a prominent and affluent area.
After some consideration, I decided to purchase these in the greenish/brown color (I wish I'd known a Navy option was available online!) in a size 6. I usually wear a size 6 and these run large, so they do tend to slide around but with a thick sock it's not a big deal. The flip side to this is that thick socks make it a bit harder to get the shoe ON, since the tongue is attached for waterproofing. I'm noticing this improves with wear, though it does require some force to shove on the foot. I've also been wearing them untied to more quickly slip on and off, so that makes the slipping more prominent. They'd probably be fine if I tied them like a normal human.
Perhaps what I am least satisfied with in this shoe is the lack of cushioning. It's really very basic and offers no support. Insoles could be purchased (LL Bean sells sherling-lined ones) but I'd really rather the shoe came with more cushion and would even pay the $10-20 more for that feature.
My second biggest complaint is that these shoes have no lining/insulation. However, I see LLBean.com sells other Bean Boots with lining... so I think this complaint is more geared towards the lack of selection that my local LL Bean store had in stock when I was there. This particular Bean Boot option is more appropriate for all seasons, which can actually be seen as a pro. I'm sure they'll be awesome in the rainy spring time when it's not as cold out. However, as a replacement to a true snow boot these are a bit disappointing. Next winter I'd be happier if I purchase a true snow boot to replace the pair I lost this year. Just couldn't justify the additional cost for the Sherling-lined ones available in the store when spring is coming soon.

Rated 1 out of 5 by AlexPokie Size 5 should be an option
I usually wear size 5.5 or 6 but these run large so they were very loose on me. I looked at the kids bean boots but the only color choice available for kids is dark brown on dark brown which don't look that great. I really think LLBean should hold these boots in size 5 which technically would be a size 6 (a pretty standard size in women's shoes)

I have had these boots for about three years and I would highly recommend them for wet weather. They are a great quality boot. Though they hold absolutely no heat. They really aren't good enough for the snow. Even with wool socks on my feet are frozen walking. I would suggest paying extra for the insulated boots. I just bought them now cause I am tired of having frozen feet.

I ordered these boots on November 9th. I just received them today off of backorder, they said they would be shipped on the 24th so it came early. They are super comfortable! I am usually a size 7, i ordered a size 6 and they fit great. I am currently wearing them with regular socks, when i wear thicker socks during cold months they will be maybe a bit snug but still comfortable. I love the look of them! the only downside is pretty hard to get on and off but that is it.

I owned a great pair of LL Bean insulated boots until they dried out over the summer and fell apart.
So I contacted LL Bean for a replacement pair. I was informed that they no longer carried that style. Even though they were still in the catalog. So I settled on this boot. Well I was just outside shoveling snow for about an hour and I can't feel my toes.
On top of that they are not very comfortable.
Mr.Bean give me my insulated boots back!!!!

Okay, so I know everyone loves these, but I really can't figure out why. For starters, the inside of the boot is pretty hard. It's straight up leather, so it's not very soft or comfortable for walking long distances (I'm a college student, so I walk a lot). In fact, the back part of the ankle scraped up my thick wool socks so much, they became thin and stained yellow from the leather.
But, for me, the worst thing about these boots was that my feet got very cold in the winter. I live in upstate NY, so I've waded through the snow in these for the past two months. They were fine at first, but we recently had some hardcore snow and my feet have been getting very cold in the toe area. I don't think snow is getting into the boots (they're pretty good about that), it's just that rubber is not the warmest material. Long story short - I'm buying new boots. I love LL Bean coats, but the boots were a disappointment for me.
Note: I also found the constant lacing up of the boots pretty annoying. That's not LL Bean's fault, of course, but I feel like it's important for shoppers to know.

I've had my Bean boots for over 15 years and once the leather softened a bit, they became my favorite boots. I wear them during all seasons in Maine and in every kind of weather. They have worn extremely well and are the most comfortable boots I own! If my boots ever wear out, I will definitely be buying another pair!
