This is "Jones" style but not your old waxed canvas flannel lined hat. It is a modern version with insulation and Gore Tex weather resistance. It is a brilliant Orange and highly visible. Nice ear flaps and the cap is true to size. I will he test-driving mine 11/6 on a Chukar Hunt.

A nice hat although a little snug even in the largest size. It is hard to find Jones style caps like this despite their utility. Please consider making one in brown.

I have been wearing the Jones hat for over fifty years and a few years back it was hard to find a good one so I thought to myself, I know who will have a good grade of jones hats, LL Bean. Bought a brown that I liked and had worn for years and a camo. Dont remember the cost but the quality was perfect and I said leave it to Bean to carry a good one. Jones hats are not to wad up and stick in your pocket. A good jones hat has a stiff brimand the crown will stand on its own. As I said been wearing them for over 50 years. My two were in bad shape so I said, Bean will still have a good one and man did I miss it.Went to the Bean website and saw that the orange was the only one they had but said ok, I will dye it another color cause I know it will be a good quality hat. Got it in the mail today and let me tell You about. Came in a bag not a box, mashed as flat as a pancake, brim like toilet tissue, liner not sawn to the crown, biggest piece of junk I have ever bought and surprised to get this junk from Bean and on top of that 45 dollars. For those of You that are pleased with this quality, You have never owned a quality Jones Hat. Forty five dollars is not a bad price for a good Jones hat but two dollars is too much for this junk and if You dont believe me just buy one.

My husband loves this hat. Exactly what he has been looking for when walking the dogs in the woods. Likes the feature where it covers his ears and neck on snowy mornings. Highly recommend this hat for its versatility in all types of cold weather

Rated 1 out of 5 by Gump Jones style hat with Gore-tex
Ordered this cap and if I had actually seen it before ordering I would not have purchased it. Not like the Old Jones caps. The peak was very flimsy material and could not be shaped. the fit was bad due to the crown being to large allowing the cap to sit on the ears. The fit was better with the ear flaps down. Very disappointed! This is not a $45.00 cap and far from LL's standards. Had to return it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lumbercore The rain hat
I bought this hat to wear when it's raining and I must say it's even better than that...because of the earflaps tucked away inside I found that the flap really stops the wind from my ears and therefore keeps my head warn and dry.
I would be remiss if I don't mention something about the size of the hat...because I wear a size 7-7 i/4 hat I ordered a 'large' and it is large, sitting over my ears. I now believe I should have ordered a medium which would sit better on my head. So, here's what I'm going to do...order a medium in a different color and write another review to clear up any confusion.

Rated 4 out of 5 by ALTurkeyBum Wish it came in UNinsulated
I like Jones-style hats for their rain protection and short bills that give just enough shade but don't interfere with rifle scopes, and they are really getting hard to find. Plus I have a larger than "one-size-fits-most" head and this one in XL fits fine - it gets four stars and is a keeper just for fitting me. This is definitely a cold weather hat - wish it came in an uninsulated version, just a shell, gore-tex and a thin cotton jesrsey liner, like my 20 year old Duxbak "lucky hat" that fianlly gave up the ghost during spring turkey season. If you are looking for a warm weather hat, or one for hunting that involves a lot of walking (like spring turkey or upland bird hunting), I think this will be too warm. As others have noted, there is some excess material in the crown, with all the insulation and so forth, but this seems to be less noticeable in the XL size.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Kyhunter Jones style hat, Hunter Orange
Biought the hat at the same time I bought the Big Game System Jacket in Hunter Orange. Wanted to be seen in the woods and keep my head warm and dry. Hat fits well, like the insulated crown and ear flaps, but really like the large area of Hunter Orange. Don't yet know if it will shed water. Nice hat for hunting.

Rated 3 out of 5 by DennisinMA Well made, but large dome
The construction on this hat is excellent. The tan fabric is less bulky than the orange. Both are made well and size properly.
Alas, it appears I'm wearing a bowling ball under it when I put it on my head. There is just a lot of material in the crown of the hat. Jones hat's aren't easy to find. I was hoping this was a good solution. My vanity says otherwise. :)
