The trip starts with a ferry ride to Tylerton, on Smith Island, Maryland. Smith is one of a chain of isolated islands in Tangier Sound. After lunch, we'll visit a crab shanty and an environmental education center. In the afternoon, our guides will lead you out on the water. The first evening will be spent camping at a secluded island site, where you'll enjoy a dinner of Chesapeake specialties, such as blue crabs and the island's famous layer cakes. We will provide comfortable tents and sleeping bags for your night out under the stars. Day two begins with breakfast on the beach. Our paddling destination will be Tangier Island, Virginia. Along the way, we will view an abundance of wildlife and have lunch on an island. The day ends with dinner at a restaurant before spending the night at a cozy inn. On the last day we'll explore Tangier's waterways, stopping for a picnic lunch. Then it's back on the ferry for a scenic trip to the dock at Crisfield, Maryland. You will be paddling a distance of 3 to 14 miles each day.
