I would award this tent 4.5 stars if possible, but since it is not perfect, I rounded down to 4. This is a solid tent for family camping. The only area of true deficiency are the stakes; at this price, I feel that a tent should have decent metal stakes instead of the cheap plastic stakes this tent comes with. Also, a vestibule would really put this tent over the top, in my opinion.
We used this tent for a three night camping trip in the NC mountains. The weather was mild, but damp. We were above 5000 feet in elevation, so two mornings were very foggy and everything outside was drenched, but inside the tent was nice and dry. It rained the first night, and the tent did not leak a drop. There was also only one small patch of condensation on a side wall on the second morning. In addition, it was quite windy all three nights, and the ventilation in the tent was good, but it did not feel excessively drafty. This tent is very roomy for our family of three. At 5' 9" I was able to stand easily almost all the way out to the side walls. However, this height comes at a slight penalty when pitching the tent, because at our height it is a bit difficult to reach the uppermost clips on the tent body.

Rated 3 out of 5 Not as High Quality as Expected
I'm not sure if it's part of the design, but the lightweight aluminum poles didn't seem as sturdy as older models (I have borrowed my friend's older 4-person dome). Sadly, by literally by our first outdoor use, the poles were already warped at the point that would be the 'keystone' and therefore don't just slip into place as they're meant to.
Which really ruined my lesson to my nephews on how to set up a tent. One kid couldn't get it, so I was like 'oh, here' but I had to jiggle and shove and shimmy to get the pole to fit into itself. It just didn't work right any more. I certainly would expect that behavior with a ten-year-old tent, but not a tent being unfolded and set up for a second time (first time outdoors).
Also - there appeared to be discoloration on a window flap - couldn't be ours since our first use was indoors just to make sure all the pieces were there! So - a sad find, and my first less-than-thrilling LL Bean experience. We'd send it back but really need it for camping this summer, and I doubt a new copy of the same model would fix these particular issues.
Three stars because it's still durable seeming in other parts, sturdy (I think), and just a palace in terms of size and height. Plenty of room not just for our 3-person family plus a dog, but also for all the gear and interlopers (our 2 nephews) you might happen upon. Easily a great 4-or 5-person family tent.

Great tent. Don't mind paying a higher price for quality. No problem setting up. We were at the beach before we knew it. It was so good looking, we didn't want to take it down and go home. You could see the quality in the details.

I bought this tent a couple of years ago and absolutely LOVE it!! It's so easy to put up and very stylish. We got lots of compliments and several people told us that they were going to get one for next time. The screens kept the bugs out and gave us lots of ventilation. My kids colored one day when it rained a lot. I just can't say enough good things about this tent!!

I bought this tent three years ago and love it. It's very sturdy and has kept me completely dry during some rather heavy rain storms with strong winds. The fly has a very tight fit; I did break one of the awning poles after several uses but was shipped a replacement. Other than that there's been no problems. I also bought the matching footprint and that's working out well too.
My only suggestion to LL Bean would be to make the bag a little easier to carry, perhaps with a strap that extends lengthwise; it's a bit awkward to carry up to my third floor apartment!
Thanks for the quality products!

I purchased this tent in late April (2013) after reading its specs online. I love L.L. as a company and would definitely buy another tent from them, but this particular tent I would not. For the first two days it looked great and worked as designed. On the third day a light breeze caused the tent to twist, bending one of the two main poles. After this the rain-fly no longer fit and it eventually ripped while trying to place it over the bent pole.
This tent's design just doesn't factor in the basic beginning of life deformations that its components and their materials will undergo. There's just not enough design margin in the rain-fly given what appears to be natural pole deformations, which would otherwise be no big deal.
