I wanted to try this jacket oi use in Hawaii, where I live. I know it's warm, but in the rainy season if you're at the beach for a few hours the wind can be really cold and draining, and in the evenings out walking the same. And I'm very thin, so I really feel it. But I didn't want a big bulky jacket. This fit the bill. I chose the bright purple, which I think is a very, very nice color. Not faded or dull, but not really bright and gaudy. It's rich, and vibrant. The jacket fits perfectly, is very comfortable,, and the hood is the best. It actually sits on your head without flopping or sliding around your head or down into your eyes. A really comfortable functional hood that works very well. The jacket itself is very lightweight, warm, and I can easily adjust the warmth but tightening or loosening the cord things at the bottom, It is also completely windproof. I looked at much more expensive jackets that are actually made out of the same materials, but I chose this one due to the price (on sale and with another 20% off), color, and that they have it in my size XXS, which fits me perfectly. Also, the customer service at LLBean I don't think can be beat anywhere. I just love dealing with them at every step of the way. Very happy with my purchase from every angle.

Rated 5 out of 5áby mmmpork Perfect for Temperate Damp Climates
I live in the Pacific Northwest where it doesn't usually get much below 0░C, but it does get really damp. You need clothing that will keep you warm and dry and that layers well. This jacket is almost perfect and I'm happy I purchased it. I walk about a mile to work in the morning and have walked in heavy rain wearing this jacket with no problems. I like the inner pouch with the headphone jack and I also appreciate the zip pockets. It does a great job of blocking the wind. It does well in warmer/colder temperatures when you layer appropriately underneath. I was pretty impressed at not only how warm this jacket is but how well it moderates temperature too.
I recently went to Amsterdam and the UK and took this jacket with me. I am a really light packer when I travel so packing this into a pouch meant it fit in my backpack and also doubled as a pillow on the plane. Amsterdam experienced an unusual cold spell while I was there with temperatures dipping to just below 0░C with the coldest at one point being around -5░C. I wore this jacket with a polar fleece cardigan underneath plus gloves, scarf, and hat, and I was plenty warm. There is a pretty intense cold wind from the canals and the jacket did a great job of blocking it. I was dry and warm the whole time. When I went up to the UK, the temperature was about 10░C, so I only needed a light cardigan underneath.
I have 2 complaints about the jacket. First, it runs small. I'm normally between a medium and large in L.L. Bean sizes but I had to go up to an XL in this jacket. It's really snug in the hips. My measurements are 40"-38"-50". The L fit fine in the upper body but when zipped I couldn't pull it over my hips. The XL is snug and slips up but fits well enough and doesn't look bad.
The second complaint is the lack of bungee cord around the hood opening. I like to tighten the hood so it stays on when it's windy, so this one kept blowing off and wind kept getting into the hood. I recommend wearing a hat with this jacket if it might be windy for that reason.
I particularly liked a couple of things about this jacket when traveling. The inner pocket was the perfect size for my passport and I felt very comfortable with it there. I also appreciated being able to stuff it into a pouch when I went into pubs or museums enabling me to skip the coat check or deal with awkwardly carrying around a jacket. I certainly got some funny looks when I stuffed it into and out of its little pocket!
If you travel a lot and spend most of your time in a damp climate that doesn't get too much below freezing, this jacket is great. I got the turquoise blue color and I really like it.

Rated 5 out of 5áby lovemybeansboots Wow, Great jacket
We've walked the trails and through open fields this winter on some cold (18║) and windy days. Really, I was skeptical that this jacket would keep me warm with only a long-sleeve tee underneath, but I can confirm that it does. (It sure beats a ton of layering). The color is cheerful (Blue Pine) and the matching gloves have a toasty, soft lining. This particular jacket's design includes diagonal stitching with front seaming so it's slimming (not "Michelin Man" looking). I found that I needed to size up on all the L.L. Bean jackets that I tried on at the store in my area. Extremely happy with this purchase.

This has become my favorite jacket. It is much warmer than I expected. I wear it in 20 - 30 degree weather as long as I have a vest on but yet it is not too warm for 60 degree weather. Very comfortable. The sleeves are not tight which is something that is important to me and they are plenty long enough. The length is also perfect - not too short. I wear it almost every day.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I wear a petite XL and this is very well proportioned, slim looking and not bulky. The hood fits nicely while allowing visibility. The jacket is warm and I will wear a thin fleece (LL Bean fitness fleece) under it when it is quite cold. I got the gray color and it does not have the shine that is shown in the picture on the web page (too bad) but it is still a nice neutral color.

Rated 5 out of 5áby CaveatTalonWager A true five-star jacket
I ordered this jacket after I fell in love with my PrimaLoft Packaway hood-less jacket. Ordinarily I'm not a big fan of hooded jackets, as out here in Kansas where it is very windy, hoods fly up and flap around on the back of your head when you least want them to. Having said that, there are times when that ever-pesty hood is indispensable. A hooded jacket will see you through a wider variety of weather conditions than its hood-less cousin.
I just wore my jacket on a road trip across the country at Christmas time. We encountered so many different weather conditions along the way that it gave me a chance to see how versatile this jacket really is. Torrential rain escorted us across three states. Our dogs need to potty along the way of course, which necessitated my having to stand out in that rain on many occasions as we traveled along. To my surprise, I returned to my car soaked on the outside, but bone dry under my jacket. And once inside the car, my jacket dried in minutes.
Of course any good rain coat can to this, but most are not as warm as this jacket is. To have a coat that is warm AND rain resistant is terrific. I have to elaborate here that I was not ever out in the driving rain for more than about 10 minutes at a time. Would this jacket keep me dry for a long period of time in heavy rain...?...I'm happy to say that I don't really know.
At one point during our trip, the temps were all the way up into the mid 60's. My ever-faithful jacket kept me the perfect temperature out on my long walks...not too hot at all. It seems to breath well.
Returning home traveling across country again, the temps plummeted from 65 to 32 degrees with crazy-high winds and a pending ice storm. I felt cozy and warm the whole way.
I have not yet tested this jacket outdoors in below freezing temps but I do think that if you are moving it would be warm enough. If you are at an event where you are sitting or standing still in very cold temps, you will likely end up shivering and wishing you'd worn something more substantial. This is not a down jacket and is not intended to compete with one for warmth. It is nearly weightless and is almost paper-thin but a bit puffy. How the fabric is so warm is a mystery to me.
As far as fit goes, the jacket is beautifully tapered in at the waste, giving it a very flattering look. I ordered my normal size in Bean clothing and the fit is perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5áby sarah2eq so light & yet so warm?
I'm impressed with this very light but quite warm jacket. It is almost too warm. At the beginning of my walk with the dog, I'm a little cool, but as I walk, I warm up. By the end of the walk, I have shed gloves and hat, and have unzipped. I can't wait to try it hiking, or even snowshoeing.
The reason I rated it 4 stars rather than 5 is that it is not as "breathable" as a down jacket. (And I could use bigger, or more, pockets.)

Rated 5 out of 5áby mtbjane Loving this Jacket!
I purchased this jacket in petite size xs in black. For sizing reference, I am 5'1", 130 lbs, 32D. This jacket is a perfect fit for me. I can wear a mid-layer without the jacket being too binding. Overall length and sleeves are perfect.
This is my go-to jacket. The stitching pattern in front gives the jacket a stylish look that can worn anywhere. It is so versatile! The contrast lining is a lovely touch that adds to the style.
The jacket is very light, but keeps you warm. I have worn it in 45 degree weather with just a long sleeve t-shirt and I was plenty warm. The jacket traps heat well.

Rated 3 out of 5áby RCF4 not warm enough
Nice jacket, but not nearly as warm as I had hoped it would be. I ended up returning it because it was so lightweight. Definitely not warm enough for me for a winter jacket. I would need layers underneath and over it to be able to wear it in New England for the winter. I would recommend it as a fall or spring jacket.
