Rated 4 out of 5áby WalksAlot Loved the first, returned the second
I bought this nifty packable jacket in Ruby Coral last fall, used it frequently and still love it. A great little travel piece! So ... I was very disappointed that the one I ordered this fall in Blue Pine had sleeves far too long for me. Further, the elastic at the wrist was so loose I couldn't push the sleeves up to compensate. I'm an XS petite, so I guess I'm out of luck until the next redesign. :(

Rated 5 out of 5áby Barbara100 I'm glad I got this jacket
Last winter we had spells of day time high temperatures in the single digits, and it seemed like nothing could keep me warm. I have the vest, and decided to get the jacket as well, as an extra layer under my coat (also additional warmth to keep my arms warm). This jacket, which weighs the same, if not less, than a sweater, gave me ammunition during those dog days of January and February. It is featherweight and packs down to almost nothing, which is also a plus. So if you want to carry it in a tote bag and slip in on during a cold meeting or lecture, it will serve its purpose well.

Rated 3 out of 5áby mistylight Very Skimpy Insulation
First, the good news. I thought Pine was a wonderful color. The fabric has a very nice feel and the jacket was well constructed. The size I ordered -- Petite Medium -- fit well with the exception of the sleeves, which were a couple of inches too long for me. That was surprising because I am a just a borderline Petite (my height is 5' 4").
The key problem with this jacket in my opinion is that it so lightly insulated that it appears to contain no insulation at all. I tried it out on a pretty mild November day and couldn't figure out how LL Bean could give it a "Warmer" rating (Light activity: to 35░ Moderate activity: to -15░). Based on my experience, I think the temperature ratings for this jacket are off by at least 10 or 15 degrees. And it's hard for me to imagine that anyone would be comfortable wearing it when the temperature falls below zero, even with a moderate activity level.

Rated 5 out of 5áby PixieSlipper Lifesaver in Alaska!
I ordered this jacket for a cruise/land tour of Alaska in August. It was the perfect jacket for this trip as it packed down to a very small size for the luggage, and once we hit the open water, it quickly came in handy! The jacket came out of the packing pocket ready to wear.....no wrinkles to speak of. The fabric is soft and does not crinkle or make noise when you wear it. Although the sleeves are a little long, as mentioned in previous comments, they did not bother me at all. The jacket blocked the freezing wind as we cruised through Glacier Bay, and I would order this jacket again in a flash! (In fact, my husband liked mine so much when it came that he ordered one, too.) Mine was the blue pine color and he ordered the black. We have been very pleased with the fit and the feel of these jackets.

Rated 5 out of 5áby lakegenevashopper I don't like wearing a coat in the car....
.....,but grabbed this jacket on the first 'much cooler' day of the season last week. With just a short sleeved tee shirt on, this jacket was comfortable, not bulky, I wasn't sweating like a big dog, and being in and out of the car and still wearing it was a success. I bought the XL and glad I did; I had a lot of room with just the tee shirt on, but once it's sweater weather (usually with a turtleneck), I know I'll be warm and not bulked up.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Rainbow27 Wonderful jacket
I love this jacket. Originally I purchased the medium in Barberry but had to return it because it was too snug. I waited a few weeks for the large and it was well worth the wait. It's perfect to wear in this weather, lightweight and warm.

Rated 5 out of 5áby CaveatTalonWager A flawless fit for me
I just received this jacket and have to say that I am THRILLED with the fit and cut of it. It is true to size and is very flattering. I ordered the bright purple and with the exception of the zipper (which looks black on the website but in actuality is grey) the purple color is identical to the image on the site.
The jacket has a nice, flattering taper at the waste and has wonderful room though the shoulders, which is often a problem for me. I LOVE a garment that I can raise my arms up high in, and it doesn't ride up. The jacket stays put even if my arms are up over my head.
This jacket is very thin and weighs almost nothing. It will be GREAT for travel.
I read in some reviews that people were feeling like the neck was a bit loose when zipped all the way up. I would agree with this, but in truth, if it is really cold out and I want to wear this jacket, I would put an ear-wrap around my neck under the jacket anyway. But without that ear wrap or a scarf, cold air will indeed go down the neck line.
I would also agree with a few other reviewers that it's a shame the LLBean logo is in white on the darker colored jackets. A jacket in this style would look better all one color. Bean...please consider this.
It's too warm outdoors right now for me to know how warm the jacket will be in cold weather. I have serious doubts that it will be warm down to the temps published, but it may be fine. I notice that the published temps are for "activity levels", not for standing still and that can make a big difference.
Bean, you have a real winner on your hands here.

Rated 5 out of 5áby CityGarden Versatile, comfortable, well-designed
I've been wearing my Packaway Jacket since late last winter and find it to be indispensable.
Last winter it was great under my down coat on polar vortex days. Spring and fall it is perfect for bike commuting because of its light weight and water/wind resistance--and it squishes into the backpack. This fall I wore it while hiking the Lake Superior Trail: alone, over a hooded fleece and under rain gear. Then I wore it to an out-of-town conference with a nice scarf and city boots and on the train home with jeans and sneakers.
Re sizing: I am 5'7" and measure for a medium, but buy large in Bean outerwear because of broad shoulders, active lifestyle and desire to layer. This jacket is a little roomy over a t-shirt, but perfect over base layer plus fleece or sweater.
My arms are average for my height. I love the slightly longer sleeves because then there aren't gaps at the wrist while cycling or carrying a backpack. This definitely increases the comfort factor in chilly weather.
I got black because I tend to wear dark neutrals. The white logo isn't bothersome, due in part to its placement. Might have preferred it to match the jacket, but not a deal breaker. Thought of taking a black sharpie to it, but probably won't bother.

I just tried this jacket on today. I love it -- warm/comfortable/great color. Only one problem and that's the zipper. I plan to take it back to the Retail store and find one with a better zipper (hopefully!)l.

Rated 2 out of 5áby redstartky Wonderful jacket but?.
So disappointed in LLBean on this one. Why, oh why would you embroider a fairly large WHITE LLBean logo on the front of a black jacket? I might be able to live with a black logo but not white. I bought this to wear on vacations here and abroad. Something warm, packable, basic and conservative. The logo ruined it for my needs.
I bought a hooded black winter coat and a fleece jacket at the same time, and neither one has a logo on it. Perfect!
That said, the jacket itself is lovely. It's well-made and styled, and the XS fit me very well with room for a light sweater underneath. If a bold logo doesn't bother you, buy this jacket. Sadly, I am returning mine.
