Rated 2 out of 5 by YoungProfessional84 Thermos lid is a joke
I only use this as a thermos for coffee, but it only partially serves its primary function (to transport hot coffee from A to B). To be fair, coffee DOES stay hot for a long time. But not necessarily in the thermos! Since this has no handle, I throw it in my bag/backpack. The lid is NOT secure, it takes very little friction (apparently) to open it. I found this out the hard way with all my papers soaked.
This product would work great just walking around the house/ kitchen. But if there's any transportation involved, this bugger is accident prone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by BerkeleyprepMom Rocking Customer Service
No wonder graduate business schools study LLBean for customer service. They absolutely rock! My daughter had a water bottle used only for a two week camp. The little attachment to the lid broke, so she lost the lid. Not a product fault, since kids can be animals. LLBean replaced the whole bottle since old one was discontinued. Even paid postage. These people rock. They even engraved the new bottle like the old one. They have done EVERYTHING but add Spring water?

Rated 5 out of 5 by GraceA 2nd time is the charm
First Bean Canteen leaked badly. As others mentioned, there seems to be a quality control problem. As usual, however, Beans was super good about returning it and sending another very quickly. The new one works perfectly. If you use the drinking lid, the coffee stays hot for about 4 or 5 hours, but if you use the tight seal lid, it stays hot much longer. I haven't measured the exact time however, but, in the spirit of inquiry, will make coffee one of these nights and see if it is hot in the morning. Highly recommended.

I have bought several water bottles from L L Bean and this is by far the best. I like the 18oz size, butI didn't like the lids,so I ordered online the lid with the straw. I hope in the future they will make the 24oz. With the wide mouth. I also hope in the future L L Bean will sell the straw lids.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Sweeten Great travel coffee mug!
I really like this mug. It doesn't keep things hot for the advertised 12 hours, but if you pre-warm it with hot water it will stay warm for several hours with the drinking lid on.
I also really like the interchangeable lids. This comes in really handy for throwing my coffee in my backpack and then switching the lids out once I'm at work.

Good for a water bottle but doesn't keep hot beverages warn for very long, most inexpensive coffee cups do a better job. Nice top to drink from, I bought orange to help me from losing it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by NoLongerQuiet Up to 12 hours hot - did not live up to the claim
I ordered the orange insulated bean canteen because of the promise of up to 12 hours hot; my hot tea was luke warm within 2 hours.

This is the best drink container ever. Holds temperature very well. The pop lid top does not leak, so imagine what the solid lid also provided will do. If you want a rugged reliable cup this is it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by office2outdoors best mug I've tried
I have tried various mugs for commuting, hunting, fishing, hiking and working at my office. This exceeded my expectations. I bought 2 before hunting season in VT. My son and I used them in temps that were below 15 degrees with windchill. These mugs kept our hot chocolate HOT well into the afternoon. We traditionally have a snack around 3pm and I burned my tongue several times. I love that this one comes with both lids instead of having to buy the flip top separately. The flip top STAYS CLOSED, too. I went back and bought 2 more as Christmas gifts for family members.

They stay hot for many hours and are great. Wish they had a handle for carrying.
