Nice quality but too large.
The padded shoulders even make the coat appear larger.
I had to send this coat back. Can't exchange because there are no small navy's left.
The previous pea coat from LL Bean was a great fit in a medium.

Rated 3 out of 5 by anotherbirddog 'authentic' navy peacoat?
for folks who have not worn the truly authentic navy peacoat(s) for
the last 40 yrs. or so, this is a nice enough coat. i've had 2 used navy peacoats over that period of time, and the fact that those coats were 100% wool whereas this one is 80/20, which is not clearly stated in the factory video shown on your website, the difference is
palpable. it's a good coat, don't get me wrong, but i sent it back
and am hunting down a used one- there are not so many army/navy
stores in nyc as there used to be. but there's something about the way those coats feel when you put them on. like donning an outer shell which is also impervious to the weather and fits right around you. and they're not cheap anymore- probably cost me $150-200US, but to me that's worth it. i'll hush up now- it's only
m '2cents' on the subject. good coat, just not authentic navy as

Fits as advertised. Heavy wool, well constructed. It is a heavy wool coat and warm. I have worn it twice on cold rainy days and it has performed very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Gronlund Warm but not up to snuff
The coat came in a plastic bag and was very wrinkled. After a week on a hanger the wrinkles did not come out and I didn't care to have a cleaner press it. I didn't care for the large buttons. The coat would be very warm but the fabric was not nearly as nice as Pendleton wool.

As other reviewers have said, order down a size. Runs large. LLBean hit a home run with this one. Incredibly warm, quality craftsmanship and made in the USA! Very stylish, great comfort. This one is built to last and will prove to be a timeless addition to your wardrobe. Love it so much, thinking of getting the gray one as well. Have been through many coats, but returns never an issue with LLB. Customer service is the best! Thanks LLBean! You've gained a customer for life.

I have been wanting a pea coat for a couple of years and my wife
gave me this coat for Xmas. The only problem was I normally take
an extra large or large size and she ordered an extra large which was
way to big. We were going to exchange it for a large but it was sold
out so after looking at the size chart we took a chance on a medium
and it fit perfectly. Id love everything about the coat and the exchange was very easy.L

I bought this coat for my husband. I wanted a traditional Navy Pea Coat and this is a classic. He is a slender 6' and a size large coat fits great. Sleeves are long enough and there is room for him to wear his winter sweaters with the coat. He loves it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by KurtFromBoston Great Jacket, Difficult to Size
Typical LL Bean Size: Medium
Peacoat Size: Small
I trield a Large, a Medium, and a Small in this jacket, and first two were huge around my chest, the small fits the body really well but is just a bit snug in the arm pits. Great quality jacket and with the weather dipping into the negatives in Boston this week it has been warm enough to wear outside with only a button-down shirt under it. The small fits a slimmer body much better than the large or medium, but will not allow much room for layering. For people my size I would start with the Medium to test the look/ feeling with layers, and go to the small if its too roomy. Looking forward to breaking this jacket in this winter!
