We bought a Ridge Runner 24" bike for my son last year and it was a fantastic bike. We just bought what we thought was the same bike for my other son and we are very disappointed. The bike we bought what we thought was the same Ridge Runner with 21 speeds but it only has 7 speeds. It is my fault for not seeing the speed on the description but I have always relied on LL Bean quality to stay the same but it clearly has not. If they are going to change the bike they should also change the name.

My son is turning 9 years old ...Early birthday present....I was really impressed with everything from the transaction, shipping time, assembly and the overall quality and style of the bike. He is loving his new bike and is very happy, and I feel good that we got a great quality bike for a reasonable price. Thanks Bean!

Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdoorFamilyTime Comfortable suspension & ease of gear change
(Online it appears to have a green hue & it does not - I had ordered the bike & took to mind the review that stated it was yellow) The yellow bike is perfect for either gender - my son loves it & hasn't stopped riding it since delivery.
My husband was impressed with the quality & ease of putting it together.
Also, I had placed the order late Monday evening; it arrived, we assembled it, & our son was out Thursday morning riding.
We are incredibly pleased with llbeans products & delivery time to us here in AK. We will be purchasing another bike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by coffeemama Great Bike - one assembly issue
I got this bike for my daughter for her 12th birthday -- she is very petite, and this seemed like a good choice for her (will fit her now but looks age appropriate and has room to grow).
My only issue was with the first step of assembly: the directions say to spin the handlebar stem around so it is facing the proper way (it gets turned around for shipment). Ours would not spin, it kept getting stuck on the crossbar. Really stuck. The assembly helpline folks were very friendly and gave me some good suggestions but had not heard of this happening before.
Finally in desperation I flipped the bike upside down and with my mother's help the two of us managed to get that piece around without more than a bit of a scrape to the crossbar. After that, assembly was no big deal. But it took some muscle to get that piece turned (instead of a simple "spin"). I just figure this might be helpful information to other folks trying to assemble a bicycle 2 days before the big birthday. :)
My daughter LOVES the bike so far, it rides smoothly and she loves the bright yellow color. The quality seems really good.
Thanks to the assembly hotline people for trying to help (and for not making me feel stupid for not being able to get past the first step of the instructions!)

First off, this bike, as it states, is YELLOW! Don't be confused by the picture -- it's not greenish at all, it's bright yellow.
The parts look decent, and it's a nice looking bike. My daughter hasn't ridden it yet, but I'll update you on that later. My husband it putting it together and it's pretty straight forward.
