Good bag. I just wished the bag had more space inside but easy to use. The bag made my travel more comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by JamieLeigh Perfect for a 2-week trip around Europe
I originally purchased two bags from L.L.Bean - the Women's AT 55 pack and the Women's White Mountain pack - to determine which was the best option for a 2-week Europe trip. While the White Mountain pack was larger and held more, it was heavier and much bulkier with all of the extra pouches and I went with the AT 55 pack.
The AT 55 pack was just what I was looking for - it was lightweight, held everything I needed for two weeks of travel and fit perfectly into the overhead bin as a carry-on - plus, I loved the sprout color and it was priced well. The zippered compartment on the lid was perfect to access things quickly and the straps compressed the bag well. Additionally, while I was able to utilize the extra space in the back mesh panel to pack some of my less-used items (i.e. rain jacket), it was extremely difficult to remove them due to the zipper placement inside of the pack - would be nice to have an additional outside zipper or a larger inside zipper to access the back. Finally, I have a petite frame (5'3") and when the pack was full, the shoulder straps dug into my collarbone and it was difficult to adjust properly.
Overall, this pack fit my price range, held up to international travel and would be great for future camping trips as well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Appa90 Comfortable but too small on the inside
This pack was very nice and comfortable, I have a small torso (~14") and it adjusted well to fit me just fine. The only problem was the frame that allows air flow on the back stuck way too far inside the pack. I couldn't even fit my fully compressed sleeping bag in it! The pack definitely does not have the same amount of space as other 55L packs... I would have kept it had it not been for the huge cutout of the pack space. Returned for a Gregory

Rated 4 out of 5 by Maine2DC Good for Backpackers
I got this pack for an upcoming week-long backpacking trip. It is a great size and perfect as a carry-on if taking a lot of small, domestic flights in foreign countries.

Rated 2 out of 5 by NormaDePlume Returned it!
I rarely return anything to Bean because they consistently sell quality products. That said, the lining of the pack had several small holes in it when I received it. The lining seemed flimsy compared to other packs and holes in a new pack made it a deal breaker. In addition, although the pack was very comfortable ON, the frame that so nicely keeps the pack off your back creates a bump on the inside of the pack which limits the capacity of the pack and makes it difficult to place larger items (like a sleeping bag in a compression sack) in the bottom of the pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by ArcticSvenGAME99 Excellent thruhiker backpack
I bought this backpack for my daughter. We have just started doing longer hikes. I wish I had this style of backpack when I did my Appalachian Trail thruhike. This is as light as an external frame pack but much more comfortable and convenient.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Bergsteiger Review Men's AT 55 Pack
I have needed a larger pack for my winter hiking and when I saw the newly, improved AT 55 pack I bought it. I have done four longer hikes with it and have been well satisfied with my choice. The floating top lid with two latching buckles is much improved over the old, single clip. The compression straps with clips are also more practical to attach items. The large buckle on the waist belt it so much better than the tiny ones one finds on other makes, as it is easy to close and open with mittens on. I also like the elastics around the straps that allow the extra length to stow away in a tidy manner so they won't flap around in the wind. I found the volume on the main compartment just right for the extra clothing one carries on winter hikes and that one can access them from the outside with the waterproof zipper is ideal. One big selling point was also the ability to attach snowshoes or crampons.
