The leather on these boots is beautiful, and requires no breaking in. Being that it's rainy springtime, they've been getting a lot of wear - with regular to medium thick socks - and there have been no blisters or awkward rubbing. I'm a 9.5W in nearly every brand of shoe, and got these in an 8, and I almost think I could get a heavyweight sock in these come late fall. The wait was worth it, and they arrived a couple of weeks before the date expected when they were ordered.

It's good to see this classic boot make a comeback - I grew up wearing Maine Hunting Shoes, and retired my last pair some time ago. They lasted through 4 snowy college years in Western PA, and well into my 20's. I was always a fan of the brown on brown style, so I decided to order the Bison "Bean Boot". Per the size guide, I ordered a size down (I'm a true 9), and they fit well. I have plenty of room to wear a thick sock without them feeling snug. I've also worn them with "regular" socks, and I don't feel like I'm swimming in these boots. In sum, they fit my foot incredibly well. Straight out of the box, they felt great - no breaking in needed. The brick red sole, dark laces, and supple leather upper make for a standout boot in a crowd of brown/tan Bean Boots (not that there's anything wrong with a classic). My main concern was that the quality of these boots would be lacking, as there has been a surge in popularity as of late, but they look/feel just as well made as ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Knittingdoc99 Love my new LL Bean Boots!!!
This is my 4th LLBean boots and I think it is the cutest! I love the bison leather (soooo soft) and the brick red soles are awesome! I've been wearing it indoors for now as I didn't want to get it dirty quite yet. It is comfortable with medium weight wool socks. I also have the Gortex lined boots (Had them for about 14 years), The Bar Harbor all weather boots (new - barely touched but I love them), rubber moccasins (been wearing them almost every day this winter in Chicago since it is more rain than snow), and now the Bison.
It is a bit larger than one would expect but it is exactly as I expected when I ordered size 8. I usually wear 7.5 -8 in shoes and 8 in most boots. All of my LLBean boots are size 8 and I think it is the right fit. I can wear medium weight socks most of the time (enough wiggle room for the toes) and there is room for thicker weight or double layer socks for much colder weather. I am waiting for the shearling liners and that will make it so I can wear lighter weight socks.
I have not tried to get the boots in a puddle, yet, but there is tomorrow - expected to have icy wet puddles when the sleet melts. My husband has the classic boot and it is waterproof. I expect this will perform as well.
Nothing beats LLBean Boots in quality and guarantee. After all, it is made in Maine, USA!! :)

Love love love. Thanks for the quick shipping and quality product. I am very pleased. It can be hard to find something that fits when shopping online and your online fit guide helped me pick the perfect boot.

I've had these boots for about a year now, and wear them almost every day during the Fall. They are very comfortable, cute, and durable! I hike in them, and were them to work (Realtor). They are not insulated, but with warm socks will keep you toasty all day! They do run a bit large, but with warm socks, I'd recommend ordering your true size. My sister was home from Boston for Thanksgiving, and really wanted a pair, but they're backordered until April! Bummer!!

I was so excited to buy these boots, but now I wish I didn't. I've had them for a year now, and can say that they are wonderful for rain or snow, my feet were kept warm and dry.
When it comes to sizing (as you already know) these are a huge disappointment. I ordered half a size smaller so I could wear them with shearling insoles and thick socks, but they are still too big, which makes it uncomfortable to walk for a long time.
In addition to that, they kind of lost their shape and good looks, and now look like a pair of old shapeless farm boots, which makes them unwearable in major European capitals where I live and work.
As usual with LLBean- good quality, poor aesthetics.

Received these beauties Monday morning, brought them backcountry camping with me the following Friday.
Some reviewers said these boots were not waterproof, but mine definitely are. Splashed around a few city puddles without any trouble, and then the lake when we arrived at our campsite. My feet stayed dry the whole trip!
Needed some thick socks for the colder days but I would have expected that going camping in Canadian November with any boots.
I usually wear a size 8.5, and sized down to an 8 which fits my feet very comfortably with thick socks and a little loose with regular socks. Some reviewers were critical of the quality of the bison leather on their boots, but I couldn't be happier with mine.

I had been talking about wanting some rain boots at work when 2 of my co-workers interjected and told me the best rain boots were made by LL Bean. I had never heard of LL Bean, but when I researched them and saw the wide variety of "duck boots," i was sold. I wear a size 10 in womens, but I often have to go up to an 11 because not many designers make a 10 1/2. I was unsure whether to order a full size down, as advised, or to order a 10. Well, I ordered a 9. I loved them! They looked great, the leather felt good, and they looked small and cute on my feet. But after wearing them I found myself constantly pushing my foot back inside the shoe because my toes were at the very top.
The boots didnt hurt but they were getting uncomfortable. Needless to say, I sent them back to exchange them for a size 10. The 10 has a lot more room in them, which i great, but they're a bit too big. I guess the perfect fit wouldve been a 9 1/2. The 10 is not only a lot bigger than the 9, it looks a lot bigger than the 9. I dont feel like they look as cute on my feet as the 9 did, but I LOVE them nonetheless!!! Wearing these boots are usually the only thing I look forward to on rainy days. Also, I must commend LL Bean on their friendly customer service and on how fast they deposited my money back into my account after doing the quick exchange. Kudos to you all! You now have a customer for life!!!!

Love the bison leather and the red is not as bright as in the picture, which i enjoy. I didn't want see the red all the time. I debated between this style and the iconic bean boot. This style was available the soonest but pricier. Glad I chose this style, I don't want my shoes to look like everyone else but I still wanted the design of the bean boot. Very comfortable as well. I am 5'10 and I wear a 8 1/2-9 shoe depending on the type. I purchased an 8 in the medium width. They fit great and look nice with skinny jeans. The brown will go with everything and Im not going to look like I'm trying too hard with the original style. These are understated. The leather is beautiful and looks like it will look richer the more I wear them.

I have way too many shoes and boots, but zero regrets about adding these to my collection. I was worried about the size, but the 7 fit perfect (I wear an 8 in most shoes) with thick socks. Wasn't sure I would like the bison leather, but didn't want to wait months for the tan. Love the bison! Beautiful leather. Several reviews indicated difficulty getting the boots on and off, but I found this to be no problem with the laces loosened a bit.
These will be perfect for the cold rain and snow. They have already proven themselves to be among the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I wore them on a recent trip that involved lots of walking. No pain, no blisters, a rarity for me. I only wish I had ordered the shearling insoles which are now on backorder until February.
