Rated 2 out of 5 by ARLM Odd fit, not flattering
I ordered two of these sweaters, one in heather gray and one in wisteria, last fall. I was disappointed by the fit overall. I am typically an XS or XSP in all LL Bean tops but this one felt small-- the sleeves were tight, it seemed short, and the head hole was very tiny! I couldn't make the sweater work with any outfits and it just sat in my drawer all winter. Will likely be returning both. The cotton is also very bulky and heavy but not soft at all. The colors were nice but it was not what I was looking for.

LOVE the color, love the feel of the material and thickness is just right! However, it should be noted that this sweater runs small or very fitted. The description does say slightly fitted, but a size Large fits like a Medium; it doesn't look fitted, it looks inappropriate, lol! On a side note, other tops or sweaters that I've bought from LLBEAN, a size large fits just right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Happy414 Great sweater
I just bought this sweater in a size Medium/teal. It is quite a pretty color and it is sized perfectly. I'm 5'9, it falls to my hips, and is very roomy. It is not as long as a tunic sweater but falls right where a classic crew should.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Durrah Double L cotton sweater - what happened, LL Bean?
I have owned 5 of these double L sweaters in the various different colors and styles the last 15 years and after reviewing the recent reviews, I am also compelled to add my comments. I bought this for the first time since my last purchase 3 years ago as a late fall/winter/ early spring staple. I usually wear this sweater as is, on top of a camisole because it is that thick and soft and warm even in February.
Alas! the thickness of this sweater is substantially different than my old ones - which were thick, substantial, felt silky and hefty, very good for Northeast winters. This current sweater has less "heft", less cottony, and did not feel soft on the skin, it felt like a cotton blend of polyester or rayon woven in. It also shrank on my torso by a good 2 inches, but the arm length stayed the same after the first wash, I washed it on cold water, gentle cycle. It looked boxy after washing (like a sack!)
At 5 ft 5" ,140 lbs size 8, average torso, I am considered a Small, but always buy a Medium to compensate for some shrinking. I could get away with a Small. to consider a Small - but am concerned it might be too tight after washing.
For the current retail price I feel LL Bean has tried to cut corners of this very beloved company staple, and I'm very disappointed with the present quality standards. As for the management who made the decision to replace the true all-cotton sweater ( a favorite staple of mine and I'm sure many others who have bought these over the years) replacing this excellent sweater with a semi-cotton scratchy material, is trying to cheapen the quality standard this company was famous for. In fact I don't see the current crop of double L sweaters lasting more than a few years unlike the old original cotton ones without LL Bean raising the pricing point at some point to compensate the cost of producing a good quality all-cotton sweater. My oldest sweater at 12 years still retains its color and heft and my old ones still keeps me warm even when walking outside at 35 degree temperatures. Sorry LL Bean, I really cannot recommend this product with much confidence, sad to say the quality has gone down a lot.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Modelmom14 Runs small; short length
Beautiful sweater. However, this is the only item I've purchased ( I always wear Med. in this brand) that is smaller than the typical LLBean size medium. Don't think I'll be able to wear a blouse under this. Hugs the body more than I think a sweater should and the length is , again, short for a sweater. High hip lenth.

Rated 2 out of 5 by sdBoston Too short! very sad!
I am 5'6" 155 muscular build (size medium). Sweater is too short (would see skin when sitting down/moving). Very sad that this runs on short side!

This appeared to me to be a sweater that I would layer over a t=shirt but it is narrow in the body & sleeves. I normally wear (5'5" 135 lbs) S or M & ordered the M. I do like the close crew neck & it is not short on me. Haven't decided to return or keep.

I have bought and loved these sweaters in the past. Why have you stopped making the crew necks in Petite sizes? PLEASE bring them back.

This is a nice quality sweater, and I love the colors; however the bottom has stretched a bit after washing and isn't snug anymore. Also, like some of the reviewers mentioned below, it shrunk in length. I don't think it is too short to wear, but if you like your sweaters to fall at the hip - even after you wash them- look elsewhere.

Rated 2 out of 5 by catspjs Nice look, bad fit
I just received this sweater and I am sorry that I will be sending it back. I like the feel of the knit, but the sweater is extremely short and although I am a short person, I am uncomfortable in it. Any body movement causes exposure around the pant waistline. My experience with your cottons is to expect further shrinkage in the length with washing. This would make it un-wearable. The online description says that it falls at the hip -- but it really falls much higher. The description also says slightly fitted, but I found it very fitted throughout. The fit is more like what you offer in your Signature line. I am certain about my size (small) and get that size from you routinely, but this was skimpy all around.
