These pillowcases are rough on the face, and they are pilling and catching lint or something - never before had this problem with LLBean linens. Both these and the sunwashed percale sets have failed me, and just after I went through my linen closet and threw away the cases that were just too old to be used. 10 years old, some were....so they performed well, but these are just not nearly as good, they're unsuitable in fact. I have to keep them, I have no others, and I noticed that you pulled some of these cases (in my green color) and put them on sale, they're now backordered, so I'm thinking you fixed the problem and come mid September I can place a new order and restock the linen closet with my usual wonderful quality LLBean bedding.

Rated 2 out of 5 by FirstQuality What happened to my favorite bed linens?
I love LLBean linens, I've gradually switched all of the linens for my 5 beds to the LL Bean percale 280 thread count - this last bunch wasn't the same as in all the previous years. There is an odd staining thing going on - don't understand it - couldn't figure out what the stains are I never had that trouble with Bean linens before - but when I saw another reviewer say the same thing - I began to figure that it's something wrong with the fabric. Also: the fabric is slippery, and it's nothing like the percale of last year, even. I buy percale because I love how it isn't slippery or silky (ugh), so that's another (major)) issue with this year's offering........I've been washing drying and folding Bean's percale linens for 10 or more years and I've loved them. I hope LLBean as it usually does, takes note of these reviews and problems and fixes them so we can enjoy your lovely percales, original version, once again.

Rated 2 out of 5 by ChiTownDad These only lasted a year
We purchased these pillowcases along with the windowpane sheets, and after just over a year of use, the pillowcases are wearing holes along the seams. Great feel: what you would expect for 280 count, but disappointed that they are already starting to fall apart.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Michelinwoman This Feels like fake percale
I am sorry, but this is not pima percale. I am not sure what I was sent, but this is not pima percale. Not sure if the company relies on the high independent ratings on these bed sets and just did a switch on the product quality in mid flight. This is what is called bad business, LL Bean!

Rated 2 out of 5 by AW04 Rough, stains, fades
I am on the second set of these sheets, and I will be returning them. I originally got the Light Blue color (no longer offered) and returned them for fading. I now have the vintage green and they are also fading. Weirdly, the pillowcases end up with what appear to be oil stains on them even after one or two nights, which looks disgusting and is baffling to me since my husband and I both exercise after work and so have always taken a shower shortly before bed. I have never had this happen with any other sheets before!
Additionally, I ordered an extra set of pillowcases (so I could wash them more often) and the second set is noticeably rougher than the original set of sheets. Very disappointed!

Rated 1 out of 5 by PhxBean These are NOT percale
I have purchased these sheets a few times in the past year, hoping each time that the quality has improved, and I have been disappointed every time. I agree with the reviewers who have said these feel slippery. In fact, I thought they felt somewhat like nylon, even after laundering. They aren't crisp, smooth, or "stiff" like traditional percale, though they are soft in a slippery, flexible sort of way.
I have some of these LLBean percale sheets from many years ago which I was hoping to replace. The new sheets feel nothing like the old ones or like any percale I've ever known, so I actually looked at them under a low-powered microscope! The new sheets have a different weave. The old sheets are standard percale weave: single-strand warp and weft. The new ones are more like a basketweave: single-strand warp and double-strand weft. I don't know how that might account for the slippery feel; perhaps that's just due to a lower-quality cotton on this batch? But the weave is definitely not a traditional percale, and it's noticeable in the hand of the fabric.
Additionally, the color is way off. As other reviewers have mentioned, Mid-Blue is nothing like the rich blue depicted; it's much more pale, not quite "slate" but more of a "country blue,"
more in the range of the "Blue Periwinkle" of the Ultra-Absorbent towels, but not as bright and with a slightly more greyish cast.
Please, LLBean, bring back the wonderful *real* percale sheets you used to carry!

Rated 5 out of 5 by SCStatebulldog BEAUTIFUL, SOFT, SMOOTH
This is one of the most beautiful patterns I've ever seen, and I have mixed it up with some Indian block print sheets I have, as well as some of the other LL Bean blue and white sheets and pillowcases. I am so happy with these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by SCStatebulldog BEAUTIFUL, SOFT & COOL!!
I really don't understand the complaints about these percale sheets and pillowcases: they are completely soft and they maintain a coolness that I really like. They are also absolutely beautiful on the bed, and I have mixed and matched some of the other blue/white bedding items for a look I really love. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Rated 1 out of 5 by fabricfanatic When percale is not percale
I know a smooth firm percale when I feel it. When I opened the sheets and pillowcases I was dubious that they would remain CRISP wash after wash as they seemed a bit too silky and smooth. I had purchased these percale hoping they would be the same high quality sheets LLBean has offered for years and years. One wash later and I have limp, flabby sheets. The lint produced in the dryer proved these sheets were not woven with thicker higher ply fiber content. Was the cotton thread produced in the USA? I bet not. Some folks may want rumply, frumpy beds, but I long for the crisp smooth sheets of yesteryear. Does anybody make them any more? I do not even mind ironing them, if they would only have a crisp, firm finish. I guess I will have to starch these new ones to get the bed linens I expected.

Rated 4 out of 5 by mjd1943 too small
the sheets are great. love the fabric, feel, and fit. Pillow cases are too small. Can barely get pillow into case. End of pillow sticking out by morning. Have used and washed so can't exchange for larger ones. Never had this problem before.
