Rated 2 out of 5áby LoyalBeaner4Ever Annoying velcro
I bought the Stowaway rain jacket several years ago, because my last goretex rain jacket finally wore out after 20+ years. I never really liked the velcro closures on the front placket, as they would snag my clothes, scarves, or even catch the velcro on my sleeve when my arm crossed my body. However, it does keep me very dry in the rain, so I kept it, as I wear it when I walk my dogs in wet weather. After a few years, the velcro got clogged with lint as a result of it snagging everything. I tried in vain to pick it all out, even with tweezers and a lint roller, with no luck, and the placket won't close anymore because the soft side of the velcro can't stick to the other side due to the lint. So the placket hangs open all the time and I walk around with the grey reflective stripe showing right down my middle. It looks very sloppy and is very annoying that it won't close, and it gets in the way. I don't know why they just don't use snaps, given the number of people that have complained about the velcro.
The great thing about LL Bean, which is why I have been a customer for so long, is that they agreed to take it back and credit my account with a rapid return, even though my purchase is no longer in the system since I bought it more than 5 years ago. So I just bought the Gore Tex Pro Shell Jacket to replace it, as it does not have the velcro, and LL Bean customer service said that as soon as I receive it I can send back the old one and they will credit my account when they receive it. Can't beat that 100% satisfaction guarantee!

I've worn the Stowaway Gore-Tex jacket for years, both the older snap style and the newer velcro/zip style. My jackets all have 2 way zippers. I've been looking for a new rain jacket and prefer the more breathable features of Gore-Tex. The stowaway is not an option this time as it lacks a 2-way zipper. An additional negative is the velcro, which ruins scarves. Even if I wear an old fleece scarf instead of a nice scarf it still snags the fleece.
I'm a good LLBean customer and I have just spent two hours online visiting other retailers looking for a jacket!

Rated 4 out of 5áby Dragonfly4 Great all around jacket, waterproof, folds small.
I have bought quite a few of these jackets in the past. Now I find you have taken away the double zipper. I use this jacket for travel and I use a wind block fleece under it. It is a great jacket, but when I went to order a new one I found out there is no double zipper. Please put this back on the jackets. It comes in handy when you are in extreme cold weather and do not want to unzip the top. You can zip up the bottom a little and this helps especially when you are sitting down and still need to keep the jacket zipped good.

Rated 2 out of 5áby novelcro velcro closure ruins clothing
the old style jacket with snap closure was great great great. i had one for 10 plus years with no problems. burned a hole in it with embers from a campfire so got a replacement as a gift. i will sadly move to another company's jacket and quit using the "new" stowaway. the velcro closure on it has snagged more than one shirt /sweater and the last time i wore it snagged a sweater beyond repair. this jacket is going in the goodwill box.

Nice shell. I like the addition of the soft fabric lining the collar. However with the hood rolled up and zipped in place it felt too bulky at the back of my neck to be comfortable for downhill skiing. If you can leave the hood out that would be preferable. Ultimately returned this as I wanted it for skiing otherwise it was a great weight coat and a good fit in the petite styling for my 5'3" frame.

I (the husband) have returned this product for credit. My wife has been looking for a jacket to replace one she bought 10 years ago which has given her great service. The L.L. jacket does not flatter her figure or seem to have the quality of the old jacket. You know how it is, you want to replace something you like with as good or better, and when that does not happen, it is disappointing. Gore-Tex is a great product, and I highly recommend Gore-Tex products. This item just didn't please the wife.

Rated 4 out of 5áby Boohere15 Good Waterproof Jacket as expected
I love this water proof jacket.I have been wearing it due to the rain that's has been coming down. It has been keeping me dry. The jacket actually drys fairly fast too. It's like water just repels off of it.
Some reviews said the zipper gets stuck in such. It does tend to stick. However I don't unzip the jacket fully and just slip it over my head. Plus you do have the option of returning the jacket any time you want even if it has been a full year. You can return any time. The zipper doesn't bother me. The jacket does as it is supposed to...keep me dry. So it's a win win for me.

Rated 2 out of 5áby Snowcookie Sizing Is Too Small...
I had high hopes for this jacket...I still have my old one from 20 years ago and still use it...I wanted a new one and did like the fact that it had the collar added..I will only buy Gortex because it is the Best when it comes to wet weather
The fit on this jacket is to small and the pockets don't have the flap over the zipper, and the pockets are smaller. My old one is a Large and I wanted something alittle more roomy so I ordered the Extra Large..The fit on the new one is tighter than my old one...So Disappointed..It's going back.

19 years ago I purchased a Stowaway and it travelled the world with me. A few months ago I lost it and had to but a new one (heartbreaking :-) . Can only hope it will last as long as the last. Ladies fit is more shapely than old one but that is nice.

Rated 1 out of 5áby kayscomment If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
I had bought my first Bean rain jacket at the home store while vacationing in Maine 5 years ago and LOVED it, but the material became worn on the sleeve, and I exchanged it (per Bean's lifetime guarantee) for a new one. What a disappointment! The stowaway pocket on my old jacket was horizontal so it didn't pull down when something was inside it, and it was set higher inside the jacket making it easier to access and still stay dry. On the new jacket, I find the collar to be bulky feeling around my neck when the hood is stowed and too high against the back of my neck to truly be comfortable with the hood out. The rip stop pockets on my old jacket were much better than the mesh also; I have found the mesh pockets to get caught on key rings and jewelry. Also, the pockets now zip up rather than down allowing water to get in easier, and without the rip stop inside the pockets, the water goes right through. The new jacket seems to be about 4"-6" shorter than my original; the new one comes to about mid hip whereas the old one fell just below my hip covering my rear end... more like a parka. The zipper on the new model tends to catch on the material inside the jacket when zipping it closed, AND my original jacket had a yolked back and vents under the arms to allow for better ventilation while keeping me dry. Far too many changes, and NOT for the better!
