Rated 3 out of 5áby LarryinCleveland overrated item
Was a lot of money for what amounts to a lined windbreaker--not very happy--and I hope the reviews about the zipper issues isn't true

Rated 2 out of 5áby CyclistII There are specific problems--but they can be fixed
As another recent reviewer said, I was hesitant to order this item because of the zipper problems, but his experience was better than mine. The zipper stuck when trying to zip it up while lying flat. As soon as I put it on, the zipper would stick when 3/4 zipped. Did it four out of five times. So I returned it the same day I received it.
That said however, I have some positive comments. The jacket is very similar to a GoreBikeWear jacket that I bought about 10 years ago (I think it was a called a Century jacket) and still wear today, despite the fact that it is almost worn out. I have bought several similar jackets over the last few years trying to replace it, but none of them are equal to it, so I keep wearing it. I ordered the Stowaway Jacket to replace it because it looked very similar. Here are my suggestions to make this a truly great product.
1. Use a high quality metal zipper. It will cost a little more, but we'll pay a little more.
2. Get rid of the blasted velcro on the inside of the front zipper flap. Use metal buttons if you insist on having that flap, or better yet, have a visible zipper and use an inside flap without buttons or velcro like GoreBikeWear did. You still stay dry without the hassle.
3. Not critical, but desirable, make the hood detachable with a zipper, so you don't have a thick roll around the neck from the stuffed hood.
Those are the only changes I would make, and if you make them, I'll order one immediately. The mesh lining is great for dryness, warmth and coolness. The pockets are absolutely perfect and essential, with the zippered closures. So many of these type jackets are now made without pockets. The Goretex fabric is still the best out there, notwithstanding the competition. The fit is perfect; not too tight, or loose for that matter.

Rated 5 out of 5áby AtlasShrugged Excellent Product
I was hesitant to buy the Gore Tex rain jacket because of complaints about the zipper. I have had the jacket for three weeks and found that it is excellent in cold, wet weather with no zipper problems. I highly recommend this item. It is expensive, but worth it.

What more could you ask. This jacket is warm, keeps out the wind, cool, it breaths, light weight, and it keeps me dry. This is what I was looking for.

Haven't had a chance to try this out on a real rainy day at a football game but should be great. My husband loves it.

Rated 2 out of 5áby GRRasheville Zipper problems and for Gore not that great
I purchased this jacket a couple of years ago and I have to agree with other reviews the zipper constantly gets stuck. I thought that over time the problem would resolve itself but has not. I have never been able to zip it up all the way. I also feel the quality of the Gore - Tex material is not very good. Even after only 20 minutes in a lite rain I start to get wet on the inside. I am looking to replace the jacket and am seriously looking at other companies.

áby BeeLogRanger Sleeve lining comes out below cuff over time
The inner lining of the jacket is mesh and stretchy. After wearing the jacket several times, the sleeve linings began coming our below the cuffs as the inner lining stretched. Problematic in the rain as the lining would wick water up the sleeve. Not good.

I bought this in 2014. It's a great rain jacket. It's fully lined so you won't get stuck on the gortex. You can tighten or loosen the bottom, sleeves, hood, etc.
It's pretty easy to pack it back into its liner pocket. I don't do anything fancy, I just shove it back in.
The one thing I wished it had were some vents. I know that's ironic on a rain jacket, but if it's warm out and you are walking, it's easy to heat in this thing. I solve it by unzipping the front and closing with the velcro.
I am female, but I bought the men's jacket as I have long arms.

Rated 1 out of 5áby RockytheBruce Zipper Jams Constantly
Contrary to what others have written, LL Bean has changed the design of this jacket from what it was about 4-5 years ago. Unfortunately, the old design worked much better. Previously, I owned two of these jackets and loved them. In the new design, the snaps are gone and have bee replaced with velcro fasteners, which do not work as well and easily get caught on other clothing like gloves, hats, and scarfs. The biggest complaint I have about the new design is that the zipper jams constantly. It is a huge pain to have to deal with a zipper that jams everyime you try to put it on or take it off. It makes me wonder if these clothing items are tested before they are put on the market. I bought this jacket about 9 months ago and it is not improving with age. I'm thinking about sending it back and trying something else. I am very disappointed with this jacket.
