The Handbook is well written and has very good visuals. I have two prior Handbooks (1983,1984 and 1996) which were also very helpful.
In my opinion, all that is missing from the current publication is the Clock graphic shown in the earlier Handbooks. I have fly-casted for 40-45 years, and I assist others who are just taking up the sport. I have found using the clock method (be it 10 to 2 or 11 to 1), it is easy for many to grasp the concept. the inclusion of the Clock concept is the only change I would recommend.

This is and excellent reference. I bought it to refresh some old skills and relearn some things I had forgotten. It was better than other books like this that I have read in the past. Illustrations were clear and wording was concise and informative. It is exactly what I expected.

Well and clearly written for a novice like me. Well chosen illustrations and pictures made learning the basics seem straight forward and not mysterious. Some of the material is getting a bit dated, but this book does the job of covering the basics of classic casting techniques.

A decision to take up fly fishing after 60 years led me to purchase this book, knowing I was not an expert. The exercises and practice sessions outlined are outstanding! I'm casting better and maybe mmore importanly easier than I recall doing in my youth. A must for a beginner and a good answer for someone looking to improve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by saltwaterflyfisher A great book to improve your casting!!
This book is a great read and well worth the investment for anyone who want to improve their casting skills. It is a concise well written and packed with practical casting tips. Don?t let the rather thin size of the book fool you, every paragraph has a point it wishes to drive home. I highly recommend that you re-reading it after you have had a chance to practice your casting and I guarantee that you will find many interesting casting tips that you overlooked the first time.
