Rated 3 out of 5 by Joshkth Good cold weather training pant
I have had a version of Swix training pants for close to 20 years. These are the most recent version. They provide great wind protection during highly aerobic activities and breathe well. There are only two drawbacks: a very long inseam and a bulky zipper at the bottom. With a ski boot the length is not a problem, however, with running shoes the length of the pants causes them to bunch at the bottom and can be uncomfortable. The zipper at the bottom is fairly large and if you intend to tuck them inside your boot it would be a rub point.

I bought these for my husband... who loves them... very comfortable for winter sports. I did have to return the medium for a large... they do run small... my husband normally wears a 34, but the medium is more for a 32 inch waist.

Rated 2 out of 5 by TrekAbout Waisted Effort
I say "waisted" effort because I have ordered the Large, the XL and the XXL trying to find a fit and "No Joy". The issue is the construction of the waist combined with what I believe to be labeling errors for size, or even a lack of quality control for size consistency on the part of the manufacturer.
1) The stretch band is not substantially elastic enough to give one confidence that the whole thing won't end up around your ankles.
2) There is no draw string on the waist that would otherwise permit fine-tuning of personal fit/comfort.
3) The side snaps (one on each side. Each reduce circumference of waist by 1-1/2 inch) pop open at the slightest hint of any pressure.
4) A word or two on actual product size verses the size on the label verses the manufacturers claimed sizes. My objective standard? A trusty tape measure. My dimensions: I have a 38 inch waist, 40 inch hips.
The large barely fit over my hips, even at maximum stretch of the stretch waistband. The size chart says waist 36. Not! Try 34 (measured with a tape measure while NOT stretching the stretch waistband).
The XL and XXL went over my hips without a problem.
As for XL, waist measures 35-1/2 (32-1/2 with both snaps on the next available adjustment), and 34 inseam.
XXL waist measures 37 (34 with both snaps on the next available adjustment) with inseam 34.
All of the above is measured unstretched. With nearly any configuration of snaps, I could still ball my fist, thumb facing my waist, hand edge facing outward, and fit my fist between me and the waistband with no effort. In my opinion, this is the fault of the insubstantial elastic in the waistband and can't be remedied since there is no draw string in the waistband.
These factors are deal breakers for this product in my opinion.
In balance, were these problems fixed I'd buy this product. I love the wind breaker front fabric idea as that would make bike rides into the wind on cold days more pleasant and less chilly in the nether regions. The zip sides are a great compliment to the elasticized ankles, making it all the easier to climb into and out of these pants. The zippered pockets (two, one on each side) are great.
This product is a "waist" of effort. Avoid it.

I usually wear medium tights and running shorts, but these were too small. The large were too long. Otherwise they are great. The side zips are great way to vent and make it easy to take off with skis on.

Rated 2 out of 5 by Kayakkel Swix Tour Pants
I purchased these pants hoping they would meet my winter skiing and cycling needs here in Alaska. For the conditions common in winter in southcentral Alaska, these pants are too light weight for my purposes - particularly when compared to other softshell options now on the market. These are fine pants for those who don't need the durability and insulating value of a mid-heavyweight softshell pant.

I am new to skate skiing and bought these for that purpose. They are light weight, have good wind protection and rear ventilation. They are a little tight across the hips but the fit is good with the seat being made to stretch. Im 6'4" 178# and stay busy with outdoor activities.

These pants are just what I was looking and hoping for. Breathable, durable, comfortable. Good range of motion for skate skiing on cold Alaskan trails. I was nervous about sizing after reading other reviews but size L are perfect for a 33" waist/73" tall. I am sure that I will use them for cycling also. Super comfortable and functional.

Rated 1 out of 5 by XCskier Great look and fit, just doesn't work
These pants look great, fit great, but when I ski they get soaking wet - the material does not wick at all. When I am skiing the moisture builds up on the front (around the knee/front calf area) and by the time I'm finished they are totally wet, which means cold. I tried them out in all kinds of weather from about 20 degrees and sunny to the mid 30's night skiing. Always wet. I am returning them, and caution anyone who is a nordic skier not to buy them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by meetmeinstlouie nice....but
take these reviews with a cuple large grains of salt. i read the review from the 32/34 male who stated the men's medium was a perfect fit. being a 32/34 the review, plus the website fitting guide lead me to purchase the men's medium. Guess what?
yup, too small. i gave it to my sister who is about 5'8" with a 28" or so waist and it fits and looks darn good on her. the pants themselves are well made, stylish, and look just great. but be sure to order the right size, which may be difficult to judge by supplied data and customer comments
