seems to be very well assembled and well balanced. I prefer a 2 piece rod over a 4 so at the price this was an easy choice. It fits what I wanted and makes me happy.

Fit and finish on these rods is great. This is my 2nd a 6' 6" 3 wt. Also have the 7' 6" 4 wt. I love the relaxed casting stroke. Compares favorable to my old Sage LL at a fraction of the price.

Pictures on website don't do this rod justice. Beautiful rod. Guides are all perfectly aligned. Proper number and spacing of guides. Wraps are very nicely done with no gaps between threads. While the reel seat is not as beefy as most modern fly rod reel seats, it is just fine. Reel seat is comparable to any of my older fly rods. Has a slower action than than what some anglers may like but I prefer a slower action than what is currently popular. Cork is of a higher grade than what's on a couple rods I own that cost considerably more. Sturdy case to protect rod during transport is included. While not 'airline proof', it more than adequate for everyday use. Had rod within two business days using LL Beans standard free shipping.
Very pleased with this purchase.

I received my Quest II 4wt three days after placing my order and was very impressed with the quality of the rod. The blank itself was a nice looking burgundy color with matching guide wraps. The guide wraps themselves were all neatly done and solid. The cork was ok and the reel seat insert was nice looking. The rod did not have aligning dots on the blank, but at this price point it's definitely not a deal breaker. The real treat came when I lined it up with a long belly 4wt line. It casts accurately and with ease up close and out to 40ft - even with a size 8 weighted wooly bugger and skinny water Clausers. I bought the rod for fishing small creeks for little smallmouth and bluegills and it is perfect fit for this task. The rod has a little faster action than what I was initially expecting, but I found myself being glad that it was. All in all the Quest II is a definite bargain and worth much more than it's current asking price. Now to get it on some trout.

I bought a Quest model I in 1999. It has performed beyond my wildest dreams. I bought it before moving to Wyoming as a novice fly-fisherman. One of the eyelets broke on the model I a few years back and I upgraded to the II. I fish this rod 20-30 days a year with wet and dry flies. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get into fly-fishing. It will serve you well as will LL Beans.

The 6'6" 3wt. rod thoroughly exceeded my expectations for a $69.99 fly rod. Perfect for those tight streams where casts over 20-30 feet are unnecessary...not that the rod is incapable of more distant casting. The control is wonderful.
An added plus is the nylon and plastic rod case. I can't say enough good about this item.

I had purchased the rod as part of a combo with the Quest II reel. When I ordered, the website told me it would be two weeks before it shipped. No biggie, I have other equipment. I received a call from L.L. Bean's customer service team to let me know that in reviewing my order I had forgot to indicate which hand I retrieved with and to let me know that they would be able to ship earlier by overriding their packaging system. I thought it was great customer service and I why I have shopped with Bean for a long time and will continue to do so.
