Rated 5 out of 5 by Aquanut Best Ever Sheets!
Finally, I've learned! Only buy these L. L. Bean sheets at a reasonable price. I can't believe the money I've wasted through the years with sheets that pill, are too short, too thin and poor quality.
These are heavy duty cotton, but perfect in summer and winter, with a wonderful luxurious feel. They wash and dry beautifully and have only gotten softer with age! I've had them about 3 years.
A no-brainier for me and with L. L. Bean's unconditional warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by EliAlKi Outstanding Percale Sheets
I ordered a set of the plain white 280-Thread-Count Pima Cotton Percale Sheets for my new king-size bed and find them to be outstanding in every way. The have a nice medium weight, lovely quality thread and weave, excellent hemming/finishing and, last but not least, that wonderful crisp, cool feel of a perfect percale. For what it's worth, I'm a very choosy, hem-inspecting, textile snob with high standards and these exceed my expectations, especially at the price point. The only thing that would make them better is if they were made in the USA!
That said, I am completely puzzled by the negative reviews. The only explanations I can come up with are that 1.) there have been occasional quality control issues and/or 2.) some people simply don't understand the difference between percale and sateen sheets. If you are concerned about the former, don't hesitate to order these sheets - on the off-chance there's an issue, Bean has a 100% guarantee (what do you have to lose?)! As for the latter, these are outstanding basic percale sheets of excellent quality and I have not found better; if you want the feel of 340-thread-count sateen (or jersey or flannel), well then don't buy percale and then blame it for not being sateen.

Rated 3 out of 5 by HereInRI A change in quality
The last set of sheets I bought at llbean were smooth and soft, with a substantial thickness. These newer sheets are scratchy and don't have the same texture at all. I returned them.

Rated 1 out of 5 by crystalc Disappointing
I had some high hopes for these sheets because I saw some great reviews on other websites for it, but I must say that they do not live up to the hype. I bought the white set but they seem cheap - my face gets irritated when I lay my head on the sheets (and same with the pillows). I was hoping the scratchy and rough feeling would subside after a few washings, but it still hasn't softened up and I have to use a different pillow to protect my face instead. The sheets also do not fit snug on my king mattress, so it just looks messy and very see-through as other customers have mentioned. This was my first purchase with LL Bean and I don't think I'll be back.

I really wanted 100% cotton percale sheets, NOT sateen, and they have become surprisingly difficult to purchase. I figured Bean's guarantee was good enough that I could take a chance on these, and I'm so happy I did. The sheets feel silky yet crisp and they're the perfect weight at the end of summer/early fall. The cream color is nice, too, not too white, not too yellow. Solid purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by MarjoJimbo I'd Give It No Stars if I Could
I have purchased these sheets in the past, so this was a replacement and I thought I knew what to expect. How wrong.
The sheet is so thin that it is almost see-through. Flimsy doesn't even begin the describe it. I imagine if I ever put it on the bed that I would put my foot through it as I got into bed.
I am so thoroughly disappointed in the quality and LL Bean. What's happened to the company who sold products that I could count on?
We have been purchasing products from Bean from almost 40 years. Today changed my entire view.

Rated 2 out of 5 by zeech Sheet too large for my bed without box spring
Quality of material is very good. When I ordered sheet, I did not consider that my bed does not have a box spring; it's just a mattress on a frame. Consequently, this flat sheet hangs down way too far on either side of mattress and sheet length is ridiculously long, hangs on floor. It's very difficult to put this sheet on the bed and tuck it under the bottom of the mattress because of the sheet length. So please consider whether or not you have a box spring. If I buy another flat sheet for my queen size bed, I'll buy one for a full size bed and hope for the best!!!

Soooo nice to have sheets like "they used to be"! Of all the sheets I have bought in the last 20 years, these are,by far, the best. Plus, after struggling with fitted sheets for my newer, much thicker mattress, I simply bought a king sized flat sheet. I am tucking it in like we did before there WERE fitted sheets. This works very well.

Rated 3 out of 5 by gigi56 Percale flat sheet is a bit narrow
These are good quality sheets and they seem to wash up nicely. They are also nice and long. I did find them rather narrow for our queen bed though. Our mattress is a little thicker than normal but this sheet barely reaches the bottom edge of the mattress on each side when I make the bed. Please increase the side yardage by an inch or two.

Rated 5 out of 5 by saramay Wonderfully comfortable!
I rarely buy sheet sets. I love to mix and match, sometimes even with percale and flannel, depending on the time of year. I got this in a flat floral pine. Beautiful. But the greatest thing is that it is wonderful to sleep with and washes and dries well. I'm going to order the fitted as well because it is pretty and the design is not boring. Doesn't matter what you are wearing to bed, you can easily slide around in these sheets. This is important when you are in competition with 2 little dogs all night. :)
At first I considered LLB's sheets expensive but after many years of buying cheaper ones in reputable department stores, in fact, I have discovered that these prices are worth it. I use my other sheets when I make quilts for charities so all is not lost.
