Last year I bought two of these crew neck tops and two of the bottoms. I wore them all last winter as pajamas and was thrilled with the comfort and warmth.
I am 5'6" and weigh about 125 pounds. I purchased the tops and bottoms in medium because I wanted them roomy enough to be comfortable to sleep in.
They wash well (I put them on the "wool" setting in my washing machine...alternatively I would use a "delicate" setting because of the wool content) and I always hang to dry.You probably don't need to be this fussy with them but I think it will make them keep their shape and last longer.
I love these items so much I am about to order a third set to add to my collection. While I haven't worn the tops or bottoms as undergarments on cold days spent outdoors, I just might do so this year. Getting double duty out of these items would make them even more of a value!

Rated 5 out of 5 by IndianaSmith still going strong
I bought one shirt and two pants in about 1999. They have barely aged. This is some of the best money I've ever spent. I've worn them hiking in the woods on zero-degree days, I've worn them walking my dog when it's 40 below, and can't imagine life without them. Actually I was just scouting around to see if LL Bean still carries them; I'm so excited to see they're still here! Being warm and comfortable doesn't have to cost a lot of money; the price this year is about the same price I paid then. This is a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by OutdoorsAllDay Good style and fit, soft against skin, very warm
The crewneck offers good coverage - though visible under a button-down shirt. The blue is a lovely color. The cotton is comfy against the skin, while the merino offers cozy warmth. The sleeves are quite long, even on my long arms, (in medium), but I appreciate the overall length which tucks in along with my shirt. I washed it in warm water, and it came out fine. (Hung out to dry.)

Rated 5 out of 5 by Macphe Amazing and Comfortable
I have had a set of these for almost 20 years and they are still in amazing shape. After five years of living in Russia and using them for outdoor sports and to keep me warm inside on super cold days, I can say that these are the most useful winter clothes I have. I am allergic to wool but the cotton under layer keeps me comfortable and they don't itch at all. I am able to be comfortable inside my house with the heat turned down, which has saved us a bunch of money. I just bought another shirt. I highly recommend them!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AuntieTia comfortable double-layer top!
This top is very comfortable and cozy warm. I bought the pants to match, in the wine color, and they are lovely. I haven't had a problem with the collar being itchy. I wanted them a little loose because I'm wearing them as jammies. Since I usually wear a petite, the regular cut in my usual size fits just right.

Rated 3 out of 5 by jsitz thick, but stiff
I bought this as a possible PJ top for my mom along with other regular tops from L.L. Bean. I thought this would be the best because it was the thickest, but the material was not very soft and kind of stiff. We're going to return it and keep the others.

This insulated underwear is soft and feels like a hug when it's put on. I sleep in these, the best winter pajama wear ever.

Rated 2 out of 5 by mtcrag sleeves?
Has anyone else had problems with too-long a sleeve in this shirt? I recently purchased a Medium. The body of the shirt fits well, but the sleeves are 4 inches too long! I called Bean's to ask how much shorter the sleeves on the Small would be and was told one inch.
I thought this seemed crazy for a shirt made to be worn underneath another shirt, so I asked how long the sleeves were in the Bean's turtlenecks. We both got a laugh when she found out that this undershirt's sleeves are longer.....

Rated 5 out of 5 by Oroville10 Double Layer Crew Neck
I purchased the Double-Layer Long Underwear for a trip I was making to the Antarctica. (long underwear being recommended) They were perfect, fit well underneath my waterproof pants and I liked the jazzy color, too, burgundy. But then, I have been pleased w/all my purchases from L.L. Bean.

Rated 5 out of 5 by FanInLansing Warm and comfortable
I sleep in the top and bottom set. Although this is a bit pricey the warmth and durability is worth it. Just be careful to read the care instructions (wash in cold water). I washed them in hot water and they shrunk a bit on me. For the most part the wool isn't scratchy. Sometimes I feel the wool around my neck but the overall warmth is worth it. I would buy these again.
